A poll released Tuesday shows Republican Darrell Issa leading Democrat Ammar Campa-Najjar by double digits in the race for the 50th Congressional District.
Other polls conducted in September, July, and May had Issa and Campa-Najjar in statistical ties to represent most of East County, parts of inland North San Diego County and a small southern piece of Riverside County. The new San Diego Union-Tribune/10 News poll of 538 likely voters shows Issa, a former congressman, leading with 51 percent of the vote of those polled, far ahead of business owner and San Diego State University lecturer Campa-Najjar, who polled at 40 percent.
The new poll shows Campa-Najjar narrowly leading Issa among those who have already cast their ballots by 51 percent to 46 percent, said SurveyUSA, which conducted the poll Thursday through Monday. It had a margin of error of 5.7 percentage points.
For Issa to hold the seat for the GOP, he must outperform Campa-Najjar among those who have not yet returned a ballot but who promise to do so, SurveyUSA pollsters wrote.

Canary in the coal mine ?
Wow. May it be so.
Maybe the lion will roar. Maybe there is hope.
Thats my thought.
The last Republican in California.
Issa, God love him, is like the Black Knight in Holy Grail.
Prayers!
Ummm, what about Devin Nunes, Kevin McCarthy (minority leader), Tom McClintock, Mike Garcia?
Probably the last Republican in San Diego CA. The inland empire is still somewhat intact.
It’s beginning to fall apart....there’s going to be lot’s of splaining to do for some former government employees who are employed by CNN now!!!!
Its California, so what is the lead necessary to overcome the harvesting that will click into manufacture mode?
this is one of the seats they ballot harvested. Its rightfully ours to begin with.
Republicans won a bunch or races last time, until the democrats ballot harvested them out. I expect the same thing to happen this time.
I thought Issa was a “lots of talk, but no action” type of Repub. Still — I guess he’s better than nothing.
Looks like the fascist regime in Albany has pissed off everyone in the state, even the stooges who continue to vote D.
True, he is not alone. But he is a part of a shrinking island.
This is an open GOP seat, so If Use a wins its not a pickup.
I thought Issa retired. Guess not.
Good news. That is another House seat pickup. Let’s hope we get a few more.
Red Wave!
I think the GOP has caught on to their trick and has countered it with their own harvesting efforts.
