It’s amazing how astonishingly naive people can be. This liberal love fest believing “everyone is basically good and the same” is now being exposed. When a culture believes “good” is that their religion dominates and doesn’t allow any other, you’re slapped in the face with the realization that “good” doesn’t have a universal meaning.
Islam is toxic to individual liberty and every other religion. If that isn’t obvious to them they’re doomed. At the very least they already have a severe problem that isn’t going to get better - there’s now too many of them.

The French public sometimes make a collective decision with Cartesian logic and finality. When that happens, the government is empowered to act in a firm manner. I think that the poll indicates that such a moment may be at hand.
It sure has taken them a long time to figure that one out, the same her in the US. Unfortunately there is no cure for stupidity, it is contagious and the disease manifests itself in various forms of socialisms, always leading to failure of one form or another.

Mohammad declared this war centuries ago. Any semblance of peace is only because Muslims are either weaker than non-Muslims (in their society or between nations respectively), presently focused elsewhere, or (since humans don’t make good disciples on average) they are backslidden and trying to have a nice life, with careers and a civil society where they can just be ordinary folks rather than holy warriors waging jihad.
My perspective on the European psyche for the last 25 years or more is that Europeans are compliant and allow themselves to be pushed around until they completely lose their minds and then all hell breaks loose. Sounds like we are getting close again.

Macron has said some harsh (and correct) things about radical Islam lately. And he has boldly stood up for free speech. So Macron is moving in the right direction.
But IMO it’s too little, and definitely too late.

It’s kind of a side point, but the French were not outfought in 1940. They were outmaneuvered.
