Collins may still squeak by to win re-election.

I spent four years in Maine during college. They have no clue what they’re doing up there.

[She thinks this will save her

It rarely save liberal republicans

Socialists want a proud open liberal socialist who can swear and scream at republicans]

Since Maine is a blue state, she will likely still do better than Trump. IIRC, in 2016, there was no blue or purple state in which Trump did better than the GOP senator on the same ballot:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_United_States_Senate_elections#Elections_leading_to_the_next_Congress
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_United_States_presidential_election#Results_by_state

Politicians in absolutist regimes can lead - that’s what total control over the organs of state security (i.e. the power of life-and-death) lets them do, at least in the short run. Those in one-man one-vote systems follow the popular will, because those who don’t quickly become ex-politicians.

As a multi-decade GOP incumbent in a blue state, Collins is presumably attuned to what a majority of Maine voters will accept. Her vote for Kavanaugh put her seat at risk. A vote for ACB would seal her fate. I blame Murkowski. The last time she was up for re-election, she ran against 3 other Republicans in the general. There was no pressure for her to vote against Kavanaugh. And yet she did, forcing Collins to become the 50th vote. Palin needs to run against Murkowski in 2022 and eliminate this scourge from the AK GOP.

How many times are you going to post that?

It isn’t the confirmation vote, it was a procedural vote to get to the confirmation vote.

The confirmation vote was #224

Dang, dude, enough, already!

[anyhow, that was just the Senate voting
on whether or not to have a vote.
They have crazy rules like that.
The “real” vote came later.]

Watched it live. Heard the clerk read the nays. Collins was a nay. The chair announced the final count: 52-48. Don’t know what that list is. Perhaps Collins said No to make the people at home happy, and then changed it later for the permanent record? (If that can be done)

52-48 according to sidebar on FOX

Did Harris vote? If not, wouldn't the total be 52-47?
