MADISON, Wis. (AP) An effort to recall Wisconsin Democratic Gov. Tony Evers has failed, the recalls organizer told supporters on Monday.
Misty Polewczynski, of Burlington, posted on the Recall Evers Petition Facebook page on Monday that not enough signatures were collected. She did not say how close the group came to collecting the nearly 670,000 needed signatures and she did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
It is with a heavy heart we announce that after proofing and what came in over the weekend, we have fallen short, she posted to the group that has 80,000 followers. We do not have enough signatures to turn in.
Tuesday was the deadline for the group to submit the signatures to force a recall election. Polewczynski had said as recently as last week that the group had enough signatures, while also posting on Facebook that she planned to make up some crap when interviewed by reporters about the recall effort.

Last week they had enough signatures and all of a sudden now they do not have enough?
Did Gov. Evers arbitrarily change the states required number of signatures?
Thats really odd that one day they have enough signatures and the next day they do not.
Probably had a lot of invalid signatures.
You mean to tell me, that there are liberals out there who would stoop so low as to intentionally and with malice, sign a phony name to a conservative petition all in an effort to make the petition fail?
No more like over zealous petitioners getting signature from anyone who was willing to sign. Then discovering they are invalid. Also possible people just did not want their name attached to anything political at this time.
Try again. I just don’t think enough people knew about it.

Oh really? What did I do to deserve Joe Biden?
Always difficult to recall a Governor for many reasons. The GOP let this punk steal the election the usual way, a flood of votes that came in at the end after the rest of the results were submitted. Time to really go to war to stop this BS
Failure to beat enough hippies in the 60s. :P
670,000 signatures is a LOT. The anti Walker forces got the 550,000 or signatures they needed, and they really worked for it. Wisconsin can go Trump, but the 40% that are anti-Trump and anti-Scott Walker are REALLY anti-Walker/Trump. More intensity there than you would get in Minnesota or New Mexico.
Evers is still very beatable, I don’t see the folks in Kenosha or Eau Claire giving him another go.
Can we get another crack at this before redistricting?
At this point, other than locking us up and making us wear face diapers in public, he’s really quite impotent. He’s proven to be a WORTHLESS leader on all fronts - Madistan is in shambles, 60+ businesses are LEAVING, riots will start up again on/after Election Day, our unemployment is up, our tax revenue coffers are empty.
Since we have the Senate and the Assembly in Republican hands, there’s not much he can do.
I say let the little p*ssant stay for his full term, then usher him out with great fanfare.
Tony (One and DONE) Evers will be a BLIP in Wisconsin History.
I’m campaigning for Rebecca Kleefisch (R, WI) to replace him! She’s our ‘Sarah Palin’ without the family drama baggage. :)
Well, he can veto GOP redistricting maps, can’t he?
Yes, the governor of WI’s veto power extends to redistricting. It’s NC where the governor can’t do squat about redustricting plabs (although the NC Suorene Court does the dirty work for him instead).
If Evers isn’t recalled, he will veto the maos drawn by the GOP leggslature and the courts will get to deciide. And if iit’s decided by the state courts, remember that the WI Supreme Court, after the most recent election, has 3 conservatives, 3 liberals, and 1 supposed conservative who has gone wobbly.
Yes, a lawsuit has been filed that the WI SC can OK final changes to the maps, if the Governor vetoes it.
We’ll have to see how that goes, first, I guess.
Dane & Milwaukee Counties will ALWAYS be a thorn in the side of our Great State.
When Rebecca is Governor, she can change things back. :) Yes, Elections Matter - either way you cut it.
