No, there won’t; that is so 19th century. This time around there will be a REAL civil war, with all its attendant carnage and barbarism and savagery.

That would be national suicide because we’d be giving up the entire west coast (with the operative word being COAST).
Better to break up the west coast, with our side taking all the ports and harbors.

You are most likely quite correct. Those wishing for a CW do not realize what you just said. Those having been in a real war (vets) most likely know the extreme sacrifices of both life and living standards we will have to endure on both sides.
But, it’s either enuring sacrifices fighting for freedom, or just sit back and let the left take over and the same hardships will come anyway.
All this talk of secession is either harmless venting or complete insanity. Splitting the strongest nation on Earth into a bunch of countries each the size of weak European states is the road to ruin. There’s good a reason why divide and conquer is a time tested and effective strategy. I have to wonder if the Byzantines told themselves “We didn’t need Egypt anyway. Nor the Holy Land, nor Syria, nor Carthage, nor the rest of Anatolia. We still have Constantinople. What else do we need?”
