NBC News Opinion: Trump's '60 Minutes' interview underscores America's ongoing manterrupter problem
NBC "News" / Comcast ^ | October 26, 2020 | By Lynn Stuart Parramore, cultural historian

The entitled male is hard to shut up. Recent displays of infuriating "manterrupting" illustrate how tough it can be to manage the problem. CBS News journalist Lesley Stahl, in her "60 Minutes" interview Sunday with President Donald Trump, was interrupted, talked over, instructed and lectured about how to speak. Despite - or perhaps because of - her unrattled persistence, Trump finally cut her off completely and walked out of the interview early.

As every woman who has sat seething through a meeting knows, "manterrupting" is real. Social science studies suggest that men interrupt women 33 percent more than they interrupt other men.

Getting men to stop is notoriously tricky. Many are oblivious of or don't understand the impact of their actions. Manterrupters, studies show, start their careers early: Boys at age 4 are already interrupting girls in play situations.

Fortunately, cultural norms can change. Challenges to traditional patriarchy and outdated workplace behavior, like the #MeToo movement, are already shifting notions of what is acceptable. Lesley Stahl has been a respected journalist for 50 years. Which means she likely knows better than anyone else that gaining a seat at the table doesn't mean much if you can't be heard over the din.

that bears repeating.. I have only been to one meeting led by a women that was productive. It was the meeting where she resigned.
The next boss, who had the attention span of a housefly, set up a meeting with our big client, flew them in from the mid-west, set them up in the company townhouse. She then decides it’s time to fly to east Asia (Malaysia or Thailand) so she her boyfriend can buy a sailboat and sail to Hawaii.
We had no idea that there was a meeting until the clients all showed up in the lobby right after she emailed her “leave of absence” which she sent before she got on the plane.

Of course, she was promoted the next year, by the female CEO, right after I moved on to another job.

The author has no idea about the attributes of feminine emotional consciousness vs. masculine logical consciousness. Everyone has both and utilizes a combination of them.

Generally, one aspect is dominant.

While gender predisposed a person to the associated aspect of consciousness, environmental influences can shift this.

Sexual preference and attraction is a function of seeking a compliment. Regardless of actual gender. For example, a feminine man that is straight will seek a masculine female.

The dominant consciousness determines how a person thinks, or does not think.

One indicator of how a person’s consciousness works is whether they get car sick if sitting in the back seat, but not if setting in the front seat. This indicates a strong feminine aspect.

I’ve been researching, testing and presenting lectures on this for many years. It directly influences learning styles and disabilities in children.

Expanded awareness is the goal no matter which aspect is dominant. Judge Barrett’s stability of a rock is an example of this.

You know, at this point, I no longer bother to reason with these freaks.

I just yell, “F*** YOU!!!” and I am done.

Because, as everyone knows, men never interrupt each other. They only pick on poor defenseless women.

These people are so stupid , stuffed with self importance and insulated from reality they need to taste the stuff on their shoes to confirm they stepped in dog crap. “ intersectionality” translates to “ I don’t know anything so I combine BS from several fields to appear knowledgeable “.

In the acquisition part of the Marine Corps, we got a female Major General as our commander and while she was whip-smart, she had absolutely no idea about what the Marine Corps does for a living - or interest in it.

Briefing her was difficult because she didn't know or care about infantry weapons, artillery, or tanks, etc. and her eyes glazed over if you tried to explain why one system or another was important.

Instead, she had endless, eternal, meaningless meetings which she held for hours, causing all of the male attendees to squirm because she didn't allow breaks to drain.

Her big moment for me was when we - all of her command - went out for our semiannual Physical Fitness Test, it was cold and raining while we did our sit-ups and pullups. As we were gathering to start the 3-mile run part, she showed up in her staff car wearing her daily uniform, with a lance corporal (female) holding an umbrella for her and she lectured all of us on how we "hadn't put enough effort in our last PFT and we needed to get better scores".

Then got back into her staff car and left.

Despite her not having a clue about being a Marine, she was hurriedly promoted to Lieutenant General and moved to HQMC to create more mayhem.

I think they made up the term, “manterupter.” Just plain, made it up.

I’m sure Stahl was big in the feminist movement and was determined to play with the big boys. So she is — and is whining about it. Women need to figure out what they REALLY want and go with it. This crap about choosing what’s expedient depending on the situation is wrong.
