Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who is battling for his Senate career in a toss-up re-election race, on Sunday brushed off a sharp attack from Fox Business host Lou Dobbs, telling reporters, I dont really worry much about Mr. Dobbs.
Graham, when asked whether he wanted President Trump to stand up for him against attacks from the right, said Dobbs has a right to his own opinion but people at home get the big picture.
I think people in South Carolina understand why its important for me to get re-elected, Graham said.
Dobbs on Friday expressed incredulity over why conservatives are backing Grahams re-election, criticizing Graham for not using his position as the chairman of the Judiciary Committee to investigate allegations made by Trump that the Obama administration improperly investigated his 2016 presidential campaign.
I dont know why anyone in the great state of South Carolina would ever vote for Lindsey Graham. Its just outrageous, Dobbs said.
Dobbs' salvo comes at a time when Graham is trying to rev up conservative support to win a fourth Senate term.
The non-partisan Cook Political Report, a respected handicapper, moved the South Carolina Senate race into the toss-up category earlier this month. It was previously rated a lean Republican race.
Graham has been dramatically outraised by his Democratic opponent, Jaime Harrison, who reported collecting a jaw-dropping $57 million in the third fundraising quarter of 2020.
Graham recently pleaded for more financial support during an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News.
Dobbs, however, took a swipe at Grahams support from the right by accusing him of being an unreliable ally of the president.
Graham has betrayed President Trump at almost every turn, Dobbs said. He has betrayed the American people and his oath of office. Hes done absolutely nothing to investigate Obamagate except to tell everyone, Stay tuned, time and time again. Stay tuned. Senator Graham needs to be tuned out in South Carolina.
Graham on Sunday quipped Im sad to say I missed it and chuckled but didnt appear too shaken by the attack.
I think Chuck Schumer is of the same opinion, he added with another chuckle, referring to Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.)
Graham said he plans to campaign on Tuesday after the Senate votes to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court Monday evening.
Graham also responded to White House chief of staff Mark Meadowss statement on CNN Sunday that were not going to control the pandemic.
We need a vaccine. We need a vaccine. Until we get a vaccine, its going to be just holding the line. Its all over the world, guys. Weve had every model from herd immunity to lock the whole world down, its still a problem, he said.
He is a crusty old curmudgeon. I know because so am I.
Agree with Dobbs but not on this timing... let the red wave subside and get some more R in the Senate first. N
Every 6 years ge becomes a no action investigator. Lol.
“Graham has betrayed President Trump at almost every turn, Dobbs said”
That is a lie. Graham is no Trump clone and has an independent streak. However he has often been helpful to Trump.
We need every Senate seat we can get right now. Lou Dobbs has lost his mind.
So right on! Linda needs to go.
Ditto - and I'll be more blunt. Lou is outta his fricken mind to insinuate he prefers a democrat. It's a little late, Lou, to come out bashing Graham at the 11th hour.
Lou is right. Graham is a sleazy prevaricator who is, in all probability, part of the DC cabal against Trump.
Dobbs is a fumbling, mumbling fool... about as lucid as Biden.
I honestly think Graham would have been much better off if
he had never met John McCain. McCain’s twisted logic about
what was best for the nation always rubbed me the wrong
way, and Lindsey seemed to be his side-kick.
I’ve been very leery of him ever since.
I’ve gotten donation requests... they are filed in the trash
as soon as I realize what they are.
Too many times I’ve seen him open his yap, and insert his
foot. Your on your own Lindsey...
Don’t want to lose the seat, but having you primaried would
be an excellent move.
I watch Lou {via DVR} every day, but he is wrong in trying to dump linda in the general election.
We can not have another demonRAT senator.
That was the problem, THREE CHALLENGERS SPLIT THE VOTE.
The demonRATs control their puppies and only go after someone that crosses them {that is before the AOC +3 communists revolution}.
Even the demonRATs don't know what to with the communists.
If by “most times democrats don’t run a candidate against Graham” you meant “They run a candidate against him every single time” then you are correct.

As for his primary challengers, they’ve been weak and had no hope against Graham open primary or not. This year he had only token opposition because THE PRESIDENT ENDORSED HIM. He got 2/3s of the primary vote.

More conservative members of the House delegation who might have been able to beat Graham in the primary have shyed away from running.
Graham’s actions and non-actions strongly suggest that he was a willing coup participant.
Correct. Graham started Trump’s first term being a key player in the Democrat take over of the Trump DOJ and ended by blocking any substantive Senate action against the ongoing Big Tech censorship and GOP vote suppression. Who needs Democrats with Republicans like Lindsay Graham?
Lindsey Graham- the boy that cried Subpoena.
No one believes him anymore.
Id like to see him primaried. But for now its Graham.
However, once Graham won the primary, there is no choice to support him in every way, lest we let a dem in. Dobbs spoke out of turn.
Is that what the GOP establishment does when they get a primary candidate they don’t like? Of course not. The GOPe is happy to campaign for progressive Democrats to the detriment of GOP candidates.
Look what they did to Trump. Or Roy Moore with Obamacare repeal on the line. Or many other GOP primary winning candidates that were not Chamber of Commerce approved. Given that I see no reason to blanket endorse every bit of beltway sewer flotsam and jetsam.
Lindsay Graham has done great harm to President Trump’s first term and deserves to lose for that. It’s that simple.
I don't understand Dobbs, who I thought was a rational and intelligent republican. I'm not a big fan of Graham but consider the democrat alternative - Jaime Harrison. Harrison is a democrat who is pro-abortion, pro-LGBTQ, pro-teachers-unions, anti-fossil fuels, blames Trump for Covid-19.......
Republicans who refuse to vote for moderate republicans in a general election deserve to be ruled by evil democrats.
To steal a line from the Stones, "You can't always get what you want but if you try sometime, ya just might find, ya get what ya need."
We need all the republican senators that we can get!! Graham is not an ideal conservative but he is head and heals a better choice that a baby-killing democrat like Jaime Harrison.
Does anyone really believe Graham is nothing less than compromised swamp scum that should be investigated right along with all the rest?
Corruption is still corruption even if it has an R next to it.
Or are there 2 tiers of justice?
Exactly Correct. Does anyone really believe Lindsay Graham won’t be the first Republican Senate committee chairman to abandon POTUS should the election be disputed?
Graham is a Uniparty snake. He does not represent the people of South Carolina. He represents the Chamber of Commerce. He’ll happily shank POTUS again when the moment is right. Guaranteed.
Republicans who refuse to vote for moderate republicans in a general election deserve to be ruled by evil democrats.
How about elected Republicans who refused to support POTUS in 2016? Lindsay Graham was just fine with Hillary and her potential SCOTUS. Therefore, I care exactly as much about Graham’s election as he cared about President Trump.
