Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) said on Saturday that she intends to vote to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court despite her objections to the process of taking up the nomination weeks before the election.
Murkowski previously indicated that she wouldnt support filling a Supreme Court vacancy before the election due to its proximity to Nov. 3 and a precedent that Republicans established in 2016 when considering President Barrack Obamas Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland.
She said during a speech on the Senate floor during a rare Saturday session that while she still opposes the process, she does not hold it against Barrett, who she said navigated the gauntlet with grace, skill, and humility, during her confirmation hearings in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Frankly, Ive lost that procedural fight, she said, adding that she would judge the nominee based on her merits, qualification, and judicial philosophy.
I believe that the only way to put us back on the path of appropriate consideration of judicial nominees is to evaluate Judge Barrett as we would want to be judged, on the merits of her qualifications. And we do that when that final question comes before us. And when it does, I will be a yes, she said.

And McConnell said he had the votes even before she said she’s vote for Barrett.
Yeh, Im guessing Amy is polling well in Alaska and she wants to be on the right side of the polls.
Which is why Collins could vote “no”, now while I don’t think voting “no” helps her in her race, I think if Mitch really needed her “yes” vote, she would have voted “yes”.
Shouldn’t she do the Mitt Romney bit about looking up to the clouds, then bowing in prayer, followed by pondering their life up to now, and deciding on whether or not to knife President Trump in the back again or not to get the attention they missed as children? So spiritual./S
Cue the bruised McConnell photo and show us hers!
Wants it both ways I guess.
Yeh, think youre probably right. Mitch probably gave her papal dispensation to vote no with the understanding she would vote yes if he needed her vote to seal the deal on Amy.
Dont be surprised if Collins abstains instead of voting no.
I posted here numerous times that her prior statements were NOT a vote against a Trump nominee. I’m no fan of hers but it was obvious what she was doing. She was playing both sides of the fence when she said she didn’t want a vote on a nomination before the Election. That doesn’t tell you HOW she would vote if there is going to be such a vote anyway. Did she previously say she wouldn’t cast a vote if the vote was held before the Election? Nope. Did she previously say she would vote against the nomination as a “protest” if the vote was held before the Election? Nope.
Now if only Susan Collins would smarten up and consider Amy Barrett’s qualifications and vote on that basis instead of being a stupid ass once again. If she does not, she is dumber than dirt!
Like Steve Martin in The Jerk suddenly realizing "it's all a profit thing" as everyone is out for money from their labor or making deals. In this case, "it's all a political thing."
The very last thing on their minds, if ever, is "how can I serve the best interests of the American people I serve?"
Need a "yes" or a "no", the Majority Leader makes a deal, then the deed is done. Next time Collins "yes" and Murkowski "no" to get money for a campaign debt to be retired.
Bout time for Swinestein to get arrested. Chinagate!
She knows Trump is winning.
If Senator Collins really wanted to make sure that she got enough votes for her re-election, then she would vote Yes to confirm Judge Barrett to the SCOTUS!
This likely means she believes Trump is going to win. The shifted and so did her stand against Trump.
She’s going to vote to confirm.
Thuthan likes the attention she gets when she waffles
Whatever her reasons, at least she’s doing the right thing.
