Cats, glass windows and vehicles: These pose the biggest threats to birds in the United States. But President Donald Trump is continuing to falsely claim that wind turbines are to blame for the deaths of the nation's birds.
During Thursday night's final presidential debate between the president and former Vice President Joe Biden, Mr. Trump reiterated his stance against wind energy with a peculiar claim: It "kills all the birds."
"I know more about wind than you do," Mr. Trump told Biden when moderator Kristen Welker turned to the topic of climate change. "It's extremely expensive. Kills all the birds. It's very intermittent. Got a lot of problems."
According to a recent study, North America has lost more than a quarter of its bird population since 1970, a possible sign of an ecological crisis. And while wind turbines are responsible for some bird deaths, they are nowhere near the biggest threat to bird populations in the nation.
According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, cats are the number one threat to birds, responsible for approximately 2.4 billion bird deaths each year. Collisions with building glass are the next deadliest threat, killing about 599 million birds, followed by collisions with vehicles, which cause about 214.5 million bird deaths.

We regularly have birds slam into our office windows and kill themselves.
Of course the windows are mirrored. We’re assuming the birds see another bird in their territory and mount an unfortunate challenge.
Thanks for the additional info! I think you, me and that engineer all agree this is about milking taxpayer subsidies.

Interesting observation. My parents had their windows replaced 20 years ago and still no difference. It just wasn't a problem...
But cats are even less energy efficient than windmills.
Deliver your cat to a Feline Euthanasia Center within the next 30 days or be declared an enemy of the state.

NIAGARA FALLS! Slowly I turned.....
For those not familiar with the Alger Hiss/Whittaker Chambers saga, Chambers (when he was a Communist) had known Hiss, but Hiss denied having known him. Chambers remembered how Hiss had gotten very excited after seeing a prothonotary warbler and told the investigators about it. Later Hiss was asked about that and said yes, he had seen one...not realizing that he was confirming Chambers' claim to have known him earlier.
Not sure about cats. But I clean up birds about 5 times a year. We drew thin white lines on some of our windows to stop the birds from flying in to them. It works, mostly. Birds tend to fly into windows if they can see through to windows on the other side.
Cats and Windows don’t kill eagles and migrating storks. There are far fewer of the large birds than of the songbirds that cats find tasty. robins are not likely to be in danger of extinction any time soon. The big birds cannot absorb the killing off so well.
Cats and windows are actually much more to blame. Is that why Biden and AOC want to retrofit every building in the country with smaller windows?
cats should be indoor pets anywayNot in my house or shop.
I don't like animals that shit or pee in my house or in the garden. I don't care if it is in a box.
Then dont own any. Simple.
Btw..
Your shit probably is bigger and smells worst.
Worse*
There are more cats and buildings than wind mills but they kill a lot ....remember we shut down logging over the spotted owl that would nest in Kmart signs..
Literacy: not a requirement for CBS reporters.
Yes... but the consequence (outside of a scandalous waste of money) is that in the process, an unstable grid is being created. I've been working on some off-grid concepts for the past 20 years and have implemented quite a few of them. I'm currently working on bringing these together for my next home which will be completely off-grid. The main reason why I'm doing this is simple... no confidence that the people making decisions concerning public electrical supply have a clue as to what they are doing.
Birds of all nature, most notable the Endangerd American Bald Eagle. Won’t try for indiviual pics, the killing of our National Symbol is more than enough, more than they admit.

They do not count the number of birds killed by wind/solar because the results would be alarming.
Just as they do not count how many illegals are in our country properly.
Just as they do not count the number who died from the Wuhan virus properly.
It is all orchestrated.
