Chris Hayes said South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem is "making bad decisions," CNN's Don Lemon reminded his viewers about that supposed "super spreader" motorcycle rally in Sturgis, Rachel Maddow fumed that the governor "refused to order any statewide COVID restrictions." And we could go on. Gov. Noem has plenty of cable news critics.
It's true. In terms of COVID restrictions, Gov. Noem has been pretty laissez faire. Instead, she thought it might be wise to let citizens live their lives and keep their jobs. And so South Dakota has an unemployment rate that is the second lowest in the country at 4.1 percent. But the media has painted Noem as an enemy because she refuses to shut down the state and keep everyone indoors during the coronavirus pandemic.
Gov. Noem told Fox News host Laura Ingraham this week that she's received no apologies from those pundits, but she doesn't care because her people "are happy."

In 8-12 years shell be a potus candidate.
She makes everyone else look bad. Typical cultists mentality and group think.
she could lock me down and I wouldn’t complain
2024 seems good enough. That is if pence doesnt run .
Being a promiscuous "rent boy" at male sex clubs like Man's Country is "making bad decisions", Dumb.
I want to move to South Dakota, but my wife says Kristi Noem is just not gonna let me move into her house.
It may need to be sooner for her. We cannot let the DEMs run the country from the White House. Gov. Noem is on a very short list of people I want to see as POTUS. Beyond being immensely qualified, having her as the first female POTUS and being conservative would be an eye-owner for many.
I agree with “sooner” but Pence will likely run. I love Pence but he’s a bit low key.
This is really about how the Left hates strong conservative women and states with small, homogeneous populations.
[I agree with sooner but Pence will likely run. I love Pence but hes a bit low key.]
I’d rather see DeSantis in 2024. Hopefully with Jim Jordan as running mate.
The best thing about Noem is that she clearly understands the first principle of good governance in the US.
The government that governs the LEAST is the best government.
Period.
She instinctively understands that people left alone will prosper and the last thing they need is a 10 pt plan for bureaucrats to “fix something.”
On that alone she is a very attractive candidate. Is she interested in facing the swamp? I don’t know, but I hope so.
Exactly.
DeSantis is at or very close to the top of my list. He is killing it as governor of Florida.
The problem we may have in the future is if both Noem and DeSantis run they will likely split conservative support and create an easy pathway for the republicrat choice - Nikki Haley.
Mark my words.... she is the GOP choice hands down.
She should cave and lock down the entire state, under extreme penalty.
Like other governors, she should exempt certain essential activities and essential businesses.
Essential activities should be anything that gives joy to a resident of or visitor to South Dakota.
Essential businesses should include all workers and those seeking work, including homemakers and retired workers and children, except journalists.
HAHA! - I was thinking the same!
Well, tell her there’s no state income tax. Maybe that’ll help. But it gets DANG chilly there.
Have these so called “journalists” ever heard of a country called Sweden?
Pence, while he seems to be a nice enough guy, doesn't have the charisma needed to even make it past Super Tuesday. And even if by chance he won the nomination, he wouldn't stand a chance against the Democrat nominee.
