A New York grocery store owner is facing boycott threats because he offered a 20% discount to Trump supporters – even after he said he would honor the deal for Biden backers, too.
The Fresh Food Supermarket in Oakdale, N.Y., advertised the offer on Facebook Wednesday with a graphic that said customers could get a discount if they mentioned their support for President Trump at checkout. Beer was excluded.
The store’s owner, Jose Colon, a Dominican Republic native who is now a U.S. citizen, said he received immediate blowback, as social media users threatened to boycott and make calls to local health inspectors.

I see it is located in Oakdale. You’re from NY, right? Everything I’ve read is that area is very pro Trump. So most of his customer base I’m sure are Trumpers. It seems like a smart business move to cash in on the election season and entice the base to do some extra shopping. Just my 2 cents.

20% off your entire cart except beer? That's a really big discount for a business that generally has margins around 1-3%, or is he planning to make it up in volume? Doesn't seem like the smartest business move to me, maybe a 5% discount, maybe limited items, and hope that builds enough new customer loyalty to make it worth it after the election. But 20% is a big dent.
