Linda a lib and a pocha about 1/8th Mexican.
Reagan did not accomplish in 8 years half of what Trump has already accomplished.
Reagan’s biggest blunder was to help China get into WTO. He certainly did not understand trade deals.
“Where are all those freepers who in the past ranted there would be no wall?”
I guess they were smart enough (and honest enough) to recognize and adapt to the facts, as they developed (unlike many liberals on twitter).
It was quite reasonable to be dubious early on, after many years of disappointments - it just no longer is.
This is the biggest, most expensive, and most powerful non-military Border fortification in human history. The reality of the scope and commitment is now inescapable to any honest observer.
Can’t argue with results.
I have seen some of the obelisk markers. Very cool history.
That was my felling as well I was calling him out on the tank traps on the border which make no sense and I seen no evidence to support the assertion.
Back in the day, I opposed a coast to coast wall. I did not oppose selective wall that is currently under construction
After the controversy began, we traveled the length of the border in all but California. Most was considered to not need a wall.
President Trump is providing wall where it is most effective and really needed
I have not seen any tank traps (ditch/berm vehicle barriers) being built either, as part of the Trump Program.
The bollards themselves are an extremely powerful vehicle barrier - ram-proof, even by large vehicles with suicide drivers.
A lot of earth is being moved to develop good access roads, clear observation areas (150 feet South of single barrier, and/or in between double barriers) and to manage floods/drainage where needed.
Now they are even leveling new basing areas on some commanding high terrain (in Arizona), which will help Border Patrol dominate those local areas for a long time to come, with direct observation and rapid response.
Th US-Canadian border is the longest unsecured border in the world. I used to canoe in the Boundary-Waters and would cross into Canada. No passport.
There was one place where a gal lived on an island in Canada and had a shop of sorts. It was in the better-traveled part of the canoeing area. You could buy a postcard and she would stamp it with a passport stamp. I was just a kid when we went there, so I don’t know if it was her official stamp or just some gimmick.
I considered it decades of lies and lip services by career corrupt politicians. I reached a point about 10 years ago where it became obvious, none of them prior to the Trump era had any intention of securing our borders. I'll never forgive them for the death, destruction, chaos, cost and mayhem they've caused millions of Americans.
What an incredibly perfect meme! Thanks, just stole it. :>)
Cheap labor does poor over the canadian border.
They head to farms in vermont, new hampshire, and maine among others.
I lived in northern new hampshire. Farmers got busted for employing illegals.
Ther are random temporary border patrol checkpoints on the highways questioning citizenship status of all occupants.
If you go to upper New York State, around Massena on the St. Lawrence River you’ll see some of the fastest boats on the water. You might wonder why people want such fast boats! LOL
I have long said that we need, in addition to a tall and robust wall like Trump is building, 2 things:
1) Towers about 50 yards high with radar-guided mini-guns on top, backed by at least 10,000 rounds each, placed about 200 yards in back of the wall, and spaced about 1/2 mile from each other; and
2) A ready reaction force every 50 miles or so, composed of at least a company of heavily armed troops with armored Humvees, APCs and plenty of anti-tank rockets, plus a half dozen or so attack helicopters. The latter don’t need to be state of the art, they can be recently-retired equipment, as we’re dealing with cartels and not a serious army (and even if the entire Mexican Army crossed the border, they’d be destroyed in a day or two just with the equipment and personnel at Fort Hood and in San Antonio).
I live hundreds of miles from the Mexican border and we have Mexican illegals all throughout Florida.
I'm not saying that some illegals don't come from Canada but you DO NOT have the problems the rest of the country has with illegals from South of the Border. Some say 40 million illegals from that area... that's a lot and doesn't count the millions made into Citizens on various 'amnesty' programs.
So what's your best guess on the number of illegals coming down from Canada?
Just wait, once the southern boarder is closed/controlled, the northern boarder will see a huge surge in illegal crossings.
Just the way life and people are.
LOL! No problemo, amigo. I stole it first and added some text!
“I considered it decades of lies and lip services by career corrupt politicians.”
I hear you. I was a bit diplomatic.
Part of the problem, is the sheer complexity and difficulty of the task. President Trump has made it look easy by comparison, but he is a world class real estate developer, and an exceptional manager/CEO.
Even well meaning past politicians were blocked from success, by the long lead times, complexity and expense required for such a project (as well as devious Leftist sabotage). Bush 43 put significant resources into the effort, and instituted some of the key enabling legislation that has allowed President Trump to succeed.
221 miles of the barrier built under the Bush Program (Secure Fence Act) has been assessed as operationally effective, and does not need to be replaced (a good start). It was a very significant effort, with a lot of valuable lessons learned, and some solid infrastructure built - but it fell short of the task.
President Trump however, took a comprehensive approach to the problem. His Administration has planned, structured and funded toward a comprehensive solution - complete operational control of the Southern Border - not just marginal improvements within an arbitrary budget.
The real magnitude of the operational impact will likely not be recognized widely until sometime next year, but we are now undergoing an explosive transformation in Border security.
738 miles of Trump-style Super Wall System have been funded (now half done), and 221 of good pre-existing barrier (959 miles total) gets us into the ball park of what we need to fully control the border (by design). A similarly dramatic (but even faster) technological deployment is also now occurring.
In his first term, President Trump baked into the cake all the plans and funding for the whole solution. Full scale deployment really just began this year, but it is now progressing shockingly quickly. It is going to be glorious!
Bush had zero intentions of securing our borders.
“we need... A ready reaction force every 50 miles or so”
Something like that seems to be built into the plan, within CBP. Thousands of additional full positions were identified as needed, which will require a few years of increased recruitment and training (which has been underway).
The new access roads that accompany the new barrier will allow Border Patrol to quickly occupy the former Construction staging areas as new forward operating bases - some of which are being created with heavy earth moving equipment on the high commanding terrain - with the apparent intent to make them as future forward operating bases for Border Patrol.
More forward deployment and rapid response capability, is clearly part of the total plan.
