I don't know why anyone would ever do an interview with 60 Minutes (or any show) without their own recording. These shows are well known for mismatching questions and answers, chopping off full explanations or filling in an uncomfortable pause instead of an answer if they want to portray the question as a scoring blow.

Even twenty or so years ago a local radio host said he believed them until he saw a couple 60 Minutes stories about topics he was fully familiar with and knew some of the participants. The 60 Minutes broadcast version was nothing like the interview or the truth.

I've heard that some scientists, such as physicists, will read a respected professional journal and be outraged at the shoddy work done for an article on physics. "The writer doesn't understand any of this! So many errors! You can see their agenda! This is crap!" And then those same scientists turn the page and read about global warming (or whatever) and basically believe whatever that article says -- after all, it's a respected professional journal.

If you're the President, you can make make some pretty strong demands when a little piss-ant outfit like CBS News wants to interview you because it needs help climbing out of the ratings basement.
