Shouldn’t they have a much, much larger sample?
Or they could just open up a tens of million dose trial to every patriotic American who is willing to take an experimental vaccine then forgo any social distancing,masks none of that and see how many get sick vs those that don’t. The results will come back real fast and you can let all those people have immunity passports once you find the one that works. I personally would risk my health to take a vaccine for the country then walk around and see if it works. It’s the patriotic thing to-do

according to the CDC, survival rates for covid infections in this age group are more than 99.98%. So one out of 5000
If there are 100 study participants age 18-30, an average of 1/50th of 1 person will die. OK, there are all kinds of other variables.
But this shows you how wildly overstated the danger is for this disease for younger people.

Well yeah. How else are you supposed to test a vaccine? We’ll be doing it too when we get to human trials, if aren’t already.

As I understand it, virtually all these vaccine trials for safety and efficacy are being done on younger populations without comorbidities.
What possibly could go wrong with that approach, I wonder?
Actually, this sort of vaccine “challenge test” is usually only done on animals.
Statistics are stated various ways. Like 99.xx% survival rate for young.
OTOH, of all those who have died of the disease — 80% were over age 65. 20% were younger. 20% seem rare to you?

I think messing around and fast tracking with a vaccine/"cure" can be quite tricky and it can mess with the natural essence of immunity. Maybe it creates another virus that will wipe everything out. Maybe I watched too many apocalypse movies but I still think government is as asinine on screen as it is in real life.
At first yes. But because none of the animals have the exact same reactions as humans, either to vaccines or illnesses, eventually you have to test on humans. There’s no way to 100% know how it will do in humans until you do. Even with all the really cool modeling and cellular tech we have. In the end biology is just has too many variables.
And that’s the rub... Healthy individuals have nothing to fear from this virus... I.E... It doesn’t kill healthy people, it only kills those who’s immune systems are compromised... So why were we all forced to hide indoors for 3 months?
