Twitters crackdown on a controversial New York Post story that purported to show new emails from Joe Bidens son, Hunter Biden, about his business dealings while Joe Biden was the vice president in the Obama administration, nearly doubled the storys visibility and triggered the so-called Streisand Effect, amplifying the Posts claims, according to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a high-profile media intelligence firm.
When Twitter banned, and then unbanned, links to a questionably sourced New York Post article about Joe Bidens son Hunter, its stated intention was to prevent people from spreading harmful false material as America heads into the final stretch of the election campaign, MITs Technology Review reported Monday. But thanks to the cycle of misinformationand claims from conservatives that social-media platforms are deliberately censoring their viewsTwitter managed to do the opposite of what it intended.
In fact, Twitters efforts triggered a massive spike in interest in the story. According to Zignal Labs, a media intelligence firm, shares of the Post article nearly doubled after Twitter started suppressing it, MIT noted.

Guys! Twitter was just trying to stop the spread of misinformation, not spike the story! /S
The fact that these places are run by overpaid code monkeys who cant read and cant fathom human nature turns to our advantage...
Yep. I previous posted that it would be the biggest censorship FAIL since Gulag Archipelago.
The commies learned about this ‘boomerang’ effect behind the Iron Curtain decades ago ..
MITs Technology Review is another left-wing propaganda organ.
Now we know why Dorsey was quick to recognize that twitter screwed up by censoring the Posts story...
This is what upset Dorsey. He just channeled it into appearing to be sorry for all the censorship in and of itself.
Lol. now that will teach them.
The leftists forget that there still is this thing called the internet.
Anyway, yet another lesson that centralized anything is a dangerous thing. We need hundreds of internet meeting places like this one, so that if one of them goes sour, there are other places people can easily flock to.
Named for an unsuccessful attempt by Barbra Streisand to avoid circulation of a picture of her coastal home.
I saw this effect when the movie M*A*S*H came out. The Army and Air Force Motion Picture Service attempted to prevent soldiers from viewing the movie. When I read an account of their attempt to censor what I could watch, I joined the chorus denouncing the effort.
When the AAFMPS relented I made an effort to see the movie. It was the only movie I viewed during my three years in the Army. The theater was absolutely packed when I attended and I didn't know anybody who didn't attend.
I remember that one of the Potter book got out early in one book store and about 20 copies were sold before the mistake was discovered. A judge gave an order that the people who had the copies were not allowed to read them. How would this judge enforce that order.

Has been for a long time.
They do occasionally go off the reservation, but not often.
These people have no shame.
I hope they fail miserably in their attempt to COVER THIS UP.
Streisand Effect ... can’t stand the leftist witch. Call it the probation effect instead.
Mr. Universe!!!!
Did twitter unban the story ? I read they would not reinstate NYP until they removed the story.
