Eventually, stores in these locales will have to go to some form of the Service Merchandise model, shopping by appointment, or having everything behind plexiglass so that goods and items are not “shopper” accessible. Even then, I am not sure that determined shoplifters will be deterred for long.

If the citizens of San Francisco really wanted to fix this they should go to the homes of the city council and mayor and demand they open their doors and invite the citizens in for free stuff.
The solution is to not essentially legalize theft as long as it's under $1,000. Additional security guards would just lead to the thieves getting belligerent, viral videos claiming the stores are racist, and lawsuits. So they let them steal and eventually just go out of business. The death spiral of leftist policies is now in hyperdrive in the once beautiful and safe city of San Francisco.

This isn’t a Walgreens problem, it’s a societal problem, mostly prevalent in Democrat cities and strongholds. Not to mention the total lack of consequences in those areas. I was there in October last year, and the Walgreens on Market street had the “homeless” come right in grab stuff, walk out and no one batted an eye.
It was like street monkeys stealing bananas from tourists in India. Part of the scenery.

When thugs steal from they tend to blame the victim for the theft - and feel contempt for the victim. Clerk in these stores are more at risk than in stores where theft is not allowed. Same with newspapers and bias... the more unfair they are to conservatives the more likely they are to hate us. To do otherwise would mean they'd have to blame themselves... same with the thugs stealing from Walgreens. Walgrees needs to suck up they're guilt and quit placing stores in hellhole neighborhoods.
