Another way to look at it is the Dems believe the polls (that they’re a gazillion points ahead) and see no need to expose themselves to risk of losing some of that lead - whether it’s tough questions about the info on the laptop or anything else.

It’s just like being ahead by several touch-downs in a football game. Do you have your QB out there slinging the ball all over the place (thereby risking an interception and letting your opponent back in the game), or do you do a bunch of hand-offs to your running back and take all sorts of time after he goes a yard or two to get back to the line of scrimmage for the next play?

I also suspect Biden is most probably spending the bulk of the time on debate prep - something DJT would be wise to also be doing more of. It’s not enough to just repeat his “rally mode” talking points at a debate. Totally different audience, and preparing for that different audience (which I really don’t think he did last time) would be wise, IMHO..with his rally schedule, not sure when he is going to have any time to do that..and if he goes in to the next debate without a good amount of traditional prep, we’re likely to have a repeat of the first..and that wouldn’t be good beyond just further riling up his base.

I agree, except they were not saving the party....they were saving the party LEADERSHIP from a full takeover by the Bernie Bros.

The party leadership needs to remain in place for the graft to continue for elected officials.

By going left and embracing much of the marxist agenda, a Biden loss can be pinned on the marxists, not the "centrists".

I don’t think he’ll back out of the debate. I’m sure Kristin Welker has been given explicit instructions that Trump cannot, under any circumstances, get any questions to Biden about the laptop. They’ve already released the topics for debate...the family, climate change, the virus and anything that goes after Trump.

I don't think Trump can get a fair shake in the debate. I think the Trump campaign should give a lot of consideration to pulling out of the debate Thursday morning after Joe has been off the grid all week. Plus, the news cycle will probably be in Trump's favor this week.

If the Dems had picked some relatively sane semi-acceptable person they could have booted Biden off the ticket, feigning to be on an anticorruption campaign. It likely would have gained them votes.

Friday was the equivalent of Hillary's team calling off the fireworks -- that Jen O'Malley-Dillon virtual confab she held where she elaborated on her "The reality is that this race is far closer than some of the punditry we’re seeing on Twitter and on TV would suggest" was -- in a different light -- her popping the DC insular bubble and telling them gently that HidenBiden is going to lose.

Think about it, this is a fairly young (inexperienced) woman hand-picked by Jill to lose gracefully, but allow 1B to be pumped through the Democrat grift machine. Mission accomplished.

I doubt it. Hiding in the basement makes no strategic sense unless there is a serious health problem with Biden. There is voting underway now in many places. He should be in the news everyday turning out his base.

That’s for sure! :-) I had posted a ‘no quarter’ comment maybe 2-3 weeks ago (time is flying by) & someone posted in reply ‘El Deguello’. I had no idea what that meant, so I started looking it up .... and got educated! Glad to spread it around - very interesting piece of history.
