More than 150 business and nonprofit groups, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, are asking President Trump to withdraw his executive order that puts a limit on some diversity training.
In a letter sent to the White House Thursday, the groups said that the order creates confusion, leads to unnecessary investigations and hinders employers from combating workplace discrimination.
The group said the order is already having a broadly chilling effect on legitimate diversity training and its ambiguity could lead to unwarranted complaints and investigations.
The executive order, issued on Sept. 22, prohibits federal agencies, companies with federal contracts and recipients of federal grants from participating in training that promotes race or sex-stereotyping or scapegoating. The Trump administration threatens to suspend or cancel federal contracts with companies that violate the order.
A senior administration official defended the order on Thursday, referring to the training at issue as indoctrination sessions that force some people to apologize for the color of their skin.
A Sept. 28 memo from Russell Vought, director of the Office of Management and Budget, encouraged federal agencies to review diversity training with the terms critical race theory, white privilege, intersectionality, systemic racism, positionality, racial humility and unconscious bias. The agency overseeing federal contractors in late September launched a hotline for workers to report their companies for potentially violating the order.
Employers are concerned that the hotline will invite nonmeritorious complaints from employees who may be disgruntled about a range of different matters, Thursdays letter to the White House said. The hotline had received around 60 calls as of late last week, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Crap like this is proof that the lawyers have gotten too powerful.
Tell them to pound sand.
How about “No. Now quit bellyaching and get back to work”.
Or the companies can simply move away from the taxpayer funded trough.
So. Simple solution. Don’t apply for federal contracts. Have all the BS victim training you like.
As soon as I saw the US Chamber of Communists is a part of this you can presume that the remainder of these “groups” and “businesses” are leftist NWO and profoundly anti-MAGA.
Trump should file that letter in the circular file for consideration in 5 years.
DENIED. Next.
How about No?
How does No sound to you?
What is SO GOOD about diversity!??!?!
My neighborhood is about 90 percent descendants of Italians.
We love everybody that moves here.
But we have some customs and traditions in common.
And we are VERY PROUD Americans.
de blasio HATES that we are not diversified.
But he hasn’t been able to build a project yet on the south shore.
I hope we keep winning that battle.
Name the companies so I can shop elsewhere.
It’s like the airlines wanting the government to do the screening at airports. Took them off the hook. Look what it got us(THEM). Then there’s health care. The HMO’s were in favor of guess what? Guaranteed they’d get paid. Security for freedom. We get neither.
There is nothing ambiguous or difficult to understand in Trump’s order. The Chamber of Commerce is just doing virtue signalling to the BLM and those pushing Critical Race Theory in the hopes they can buy those groups off which never works.
IIRC, the order in question was to eliminate “critical race theory” (highly racist), but not all sensitivity training. It’s mentioned in the article, but dismissed quickly.
“...complaints from employees who may be disgruntled ...”
There are always disgruntled employees whining about one thing or another. Handling complaints is one of the jobs of a personnel manager and his staff. You give into every employee complaint and your company will go down the drain.
I administered the union contract for a few years in our company. The union was always filing complaints seeking a favorably ruling to win, in that manner, what they couldn’t win in contract negotiations.
Yes. Everything dealing with these topics should be eliminated.
