Darwins Flawed Atoll Theory Still Taught
October 13, 2020 | David F. Coppedge
Rice University says Darwins theory of the slow buildup of coral atolls is fatally flawed.
Study: Darwins theory about coral reef atolls is fatally flawed (Rice University). Darwin investigated other questions than evolution, such as the nature of barnacles, pigeons and things, but they all attempted to promote views of long ages and the gradual accumulation of small changes. His theory on coral atolls has now been criticized as fatally flawed i.e., dead. Schools, however, are still teaching this dead yet deeply ingrained theory.

The Origin of Modern Atolls: Challenging Darwin’s Deeply Ingrained Theory

I’ve been hearing it all over- Did the military actually ADMIT they have UFO’s that crashed on our planet?
If atheists treated Jesus the way creationists treat Darwin, he’d be blamed for every witch burned in the Middle Ages.

IIRC, He is.
It is remarkable that with sea levels going up and down every few thousand years that atolls lie at exactly current sea level.
“Sinking atolls” are the fault of people living there. Their presence, houses, lawns and roads prevent coral growth and debris washups from keeping up with sea level.
Darwin’s grandfather came up with the evolution idea, which he borrowed from ancient mythology (in which creatures emerged from the Nile mud).
See his very lengthy poem, “the lives of plants”,
circa 1802 (?)
It was even called “Darwinism”.
The story that Charles (the grandson) got the idea for his theory from exploring life in the galapapoes is entirely
fiction.
I knew about Charles Lyle, but I didn’t know about Charles’s granddad being the prime inspiration for his work.
By the way, you probably already know that the original title was as follows.
. The Origin of Species
. by Means of Natural Selection
. or the
. Preservation of Favoured Races
. in the
. Struggle for Life
Have you taken your evo-shahada?
“There is no science but Evo,
and Darwin is Its Prophet?”
From the abstract of the original paper:
“Here, a comprehensive new model is proposed, based on the antecedent karst model and well-established sea-level fluctuations during the last 5 million years, by demonstrating that most modern atolls from the Maldives Archipelago and from the tropical Pacific and southwest Indian Oceans are rooted on top of late Pliocene flat-topped banks.
The volcanic basement, therefore, has had no influence on the late Quaternary development of these flat-topped banks into modern atolls. During the multiple glacial sea-level lowstands that intensified throughout the Quaternary, the tops of these banks were karstified; then, during each of the five mid-to-late Brunhes deglaciations, coral reoccupied their raised margins and grew vertically, keeping up with sea-level rise and creating the modern atolls.”
So, the earth is at least 5 million years old, and Darwin’s idea about erosion of a central volcanic peak to explain ring atolls turns out to be better explained by cyclic rises and falls in the sea level due to ice age cycles, something Darwin didn’t know about.
Where’s the creationism in this? It seems to prove an old earth idea and geologic uniformitarianism.
I don't know.
I'm a PhD mechanical engineer, not a geologist.
Darwin made no fuss about his finches until others began to use variations in finch beaks as a proof that humans have spa-like ancestors.
Do you believe yourself to be a descendant of apes? I know I’m not; I’m created in the image of God.
My tagline is what I believe. My human shell and how it got to be in the form it’s in is completely beside the point.
