In Siler City, where poultry trucks scatter feathers on the roads, Janet Pulido knocked on doors in a heavily Latino mobile home park on a recent autumn weekend, hoping to get out the vote.
At Interfood Plaza Latina in Raleigh, Sarahi Gonzalez held a sign in Spanish that read, "Register to vote here. Citizen? Over 18?" The first person the 18-year-old registered to vote that evening? Herself.
Across town, during halftime on a patchy grass soccer field with the Honduran and Salvadoran teams tied Sandra Amado Gómez and her daughter rushed to register young spectators. They signed up four.
In this presidential battleground, as in much of the South, politics are typically viewed through a prism of Black and white.
But Latinos have become an increasingly important constituency in North Carolina, which, in the last three elections, has been one of the most closely fought states in the country. Polls suggest the race for the White House is once more a toss-up.
Although Latinos account for only 4% of registered voters in North Carolina, they are a force that could tip the 2020 contest.

Love when the press asks itself a question.
Strictly anectodal, I met someone who’s Puerto Rican at the Trump rally in Sanford who told me it’s more than just Cubans who are part of the Lexit movement. Trump may have significant support from Latinos of all stripes.
If you can comment on any article that discusses Latino voting, you must post the links to these two Vote For Trump songs :

I will vote for Trump (English version)

I LOVE the song and most of all the little Trump guy dancing in the video just to cute!!\
Well, there are a lot of young Californians moving to Charlotte. Likely voting Dem.
I warned my 24 year old, who moved there last month: “don’t tell the Southerners you meet that you are from the SF Bay Area! They will recoil with disgust.”
Hopefully he’s heeding my advice. I think he likes it there so far, other than (compared to the drought of CA) he says “it’s like living in a rain forest.”
Awesome! This is such great news and I hope bodes well for the other swing states.
I have a Latina coworker (CA) who has told me that in her extended family, the men all vote GOP and the women all vote Dem.
I think there is more of a gender split than a white/Latino split. Hopefully with the white/black split too.
What we need to do is get men to vote more and women to vote less (and I say this as a woman).
This information comes from a friend of mine who is a big time political activist who is very good friends with an very good independent internal pollster who does the real good scientific surveys for candidates and gives them the real world numbers they really look at. Last week I got the info from him about Iowa and Ohio where Trump has +12 and +15 leads respectively. Ernst has a +13 lead. The next day “The Hill” reported how Trump was pulling his ads out of those two states. Those numbers verify the reason. We all talked about it on here.
If you think you are too incompetent to vote as a woman, by all means, do not vote. But you seem to want to deprive about half of Americans their rights, in the name of...YOU. You have made many similar posts.
Will you sign up under another name and say "as a black/latino/whatever" I think the rest of "whatever" should not vote, or vote less?
You are an embarrassment to freedom. Or a troll, or both.
I’m betting not, but the Republicans (Forest and Tillis) are running garbage campaigns, as if they want to lose.
Stop listening to Establishment RINO consultants!
(I know a guy who can help you — and he’s in NC, though he works in all 50 states.)
I’ve been on Free Republic for a quarter century so no, not a troll :)
I’m honestly suggesting that conservatives should encourage men to vote more, and women to vote less, to avoid permanent Dem rule. The female vote appears to be ruining this nation, which I care about deeply.
Remember there is also the freedom to NOT vote.
I will vote for Trump, but most women won’t.
Not a good answer.
You still suggest at the very least suppressing the rights of Americans, because they are female.
What other voting groups do you think should be suppressed?
Blacks?
Latinos?
Who?
And why? Because you think your opinion is more important than actual freedom.
As for your 20 years here, congrats. I’ve been here 16 years, and I’ve never once thought of or suggested taking rights away.
A few other Freepers that I have seen get deep into the numbers of the election, are ccd on this post.
It might be interesting to get to know them, to share data.
Not happening this cycle. NC is not in play. I know the MSM wants folks to believe it is just like they tried to tell folks it was in 16... but its not... this article is a joke.
I've read your posts in other threads. Your optimism is needed and your information, welcomed.
What does it say? From a North Carolinian
You got the governors numbers wrong. Unfortunately cooper is up 12 and the reason Walker didnt run for re-election was because his district was tossed into majority democrat district and he didnt want to lose
Less than 10% of the NC folks i work with are republicans. This is rural nc. When i first left nc 12 years ago, it was bad. All day long i hear about trump.
And how going to church puts everyone at risk of immediate death from holy covid. Its a fundamental strain that lives on Bible pages.
Lindsey is SC...
Our guy is Tillis...hopefully Cunningham’s political suicide enables Tillis to win.
