Can Democrats turn North Carolina blue? Latinos may hold the answer
LA Times ^ | October 12, 2020 | Brittny Mejia

In Siler City, where poultry trucks scatter feathers on the roads, Janet Pulido knocked on doors in a heavily Latino mobile home park on a recent autumn weekend, hoping to get out the vote.

At Interfood Plaza Latina in Raleigh, Sarahi Gonzalez held a sign in Spanish that read, "Register to vote here. Citizen? Over 18?" The first person the 18-year-old registered to vote that evening? Herself.

Across town, during halftime on a patchy grass soccer field — with the Honduran and Salvadoran teams tied — Sandra Amado Gómez and her daughter rushed to register young spectators. They signed up four.

In this presidential battleground, as in much of the South, politics are typically viewed through a prism of Black and white.

But Latinos have become an increasingly important constituency in North Carolina, which, in the last three elections, has been one of the most closely fought states in the country. Polls suggest the race for the White House is once more a toss-up.

Although Latinos account for only 4% of registered voters in North Carolina, they are a force that could tip the 2020 contest.

“In this presidential battleground, as in much of the South, politics are typically viewed through a prism of Black and white.”

While it may be somewhat accurate, that is one of the most awkward sentences I have ever read.

I believe Trafalgar had Trump up +4 and another poll had Lindsey up +6. Not worried about NC at this time.

The Latinos I’ve come across are split pretty evenly between Trump/Biden or not liking either.

Truthfully, the Black Lives Matter movement is turning off a lot of Latinos. Now because of this Supreme Court nominee, the Democrats are going against the Catholic church. I bet more Latinos vote for Trump then the Democrats are anticipating.

Graham Takes Lead Over Harrison in South Carolina Amid Supreme Court Confirmation Fight
Morning Consult ^ | BY ELI YOKLEY October 13, 2020
Posted on October 13, 2020 at 1:13:16 PM PDT by 11th_VA

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham has opened up a lead over Jaime Harrison following the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, becoming one of a handful of Republican incumbents to see his standing improve amid the fight over appointing a new justice to the high court.

New Morning Consult Political Intelligence tracking conducted Oct. 2-11 found Graham leads his Democratic opponent by 6 percentage points, 48 percent to 42 percent, among 903 likely voters in South Carolina — a notable improvement from his margins over the past few months, when he was either trailing or tied with his well-funded challenger. The latest poll has a margin of error of 3 points.

That’s too obvious. If he’s smart, he would charge millions in “consulting” fees. But really all of it is wired to an offshore account.

Exactly.

The Hispanic/Latino vote is not 90%-10%, as it is with the black vote. Heck, I would hazard a guess that even with illegals, it wouldn't be 90-10.

The Dems cash cow in this day and age is the 90-10 split with blacks. Any wavering from that percentage breakdown away from the 90%, the Dems are for the most part, politically finished. That's why they go apoplectic if any black doesn't vote for them.

North Carolina- POTUS: GOP Trump(I) +12, Gov: GOP Forrest(C) +12, US Senate GOP Tillis (I) +25, GOP House Dist 11 Madison Cathorn (NC) +25, GOP House Dist 6 Walker(NC) +21 , GOP House District 2 Swain(NC) +9

The Gov race is a pick up and the three House races are GOP holds.

I = Incumbent NC = New Candidate C = Challenger

Amy C. Barret Confirmation: 67% Approve 31% Disapprove.

My best advice to you all is to laugh at the MSM polling they are blowing smoke. I have more interesting data on top of this but I am getting ready to turn in.

GOP House Dist 6 Haywood (NC) +21 is Mark Walker’s seat who is retiring from Congress and who is being replaced on the GOP side by Joe Haywood who still has a 21 point lead.

The writing is bad. The metaphor of prism is broken because it is properly meant to imply a wide gradation of color and view, not simple black and white. Like an engine and transmission that shudders and clunks, many readers sense errors in writing even though the precise cause may elude immediate recognition.
