"There were a group of people dressed in black, and they began to climb the monument in the center of the Santa Fe Plaza. They threw a rope around it. Cheers and applause of everyone to tear it down. A lot of cop cars came quickly into town. A lot do them. Within ten minutes they left and disappeared," Borchers said. "Only a minute or two later the monument in the center or the plaza came tumbling down. They were cheering happy really excited about it. There were also other bystanders that were not as excited about what was happening."

Nice editing.

“That is not how we do things in Santa Fe.”

Apparently it is.

Police must really be proud of their profession these days.

Desperation tactics.

The power base of the left, for the last 70 years, was control of the media, thus control of the information flow and the narrative.

They have been losing that control since at least 1994, and they have had to become more extreme in their lies, in order to win elections.

Their credibility is now mostly shot. With lies about 24/7, they may be able to get the near 50% of the vote you mention.

Tactics such as this obelisk trashing are not seen positively by a majority. It is a "Who you going to believe, the Left/Media or your lying eyes?" moment.

So, the election is between the insane left, with a large number of people who are completely misinformed by the media, and those who have taken the red pill and don't listen to the media any more.

The tactics you mention all happen in places where the Left controls the government. Most of the people there are not happy with it.

Silly, thoughtless comrades!

Obelisks were a wrong turn. Don't you know that monuments, if removed with care, can be repurposed as building materials and, with items such as headstones, for walkways?

Must I remind you?

The traditional progression is from statues of people to people.

Temper tantrums against inanimate objects.

“So you are a believer of the polls put out by and in conjunction with the media?”

Not a believer in polls. In 2016 48.2% of the vote went to Hillary Clinton. In 2012 51.1% went to Barack Obama who won 52.9% of the vote in 2008. No matter what the polls say 48% of the votes or more will go to the Democrat. Trump can certainly win the 2020 election in the Electoral College, even with less than 48% of the tallied vote, as he did in 2016 with 46.1 % of the vote. However, without the Electoral College, we are at the tipping point where national elections will almost certainly go “D”.

My point is that we are at a place in our history where 48% or more of the electorate will vote for whoever the Democrat Party runs, no matter the qualifications of the candidate. Joe Biden is obviously suffering from cognitive issues and his advanced age gives him a high probability of dying in office under. Then consider his policies, many of which are not clear and numerous policies which are clear are harmful. This situation suggests half the electorate are mindless robots, incapable of reasoned thinking.

We see it in the streets where 20 somethings, fresh out of elite universities with their $250,000 degrees having no value in the job market, are rioting nightly. We see it in poor minorities, trapped in the welfare cycle, who mindlessly vote the the “D” brand even though decades of “D” governance has not improved their lot. We see it in women who vote “D” because the party “cares about ________”. Fill in the blank with “children”, “environment”, “women’s health”, “people of color”, “climate change”, “social justice”, or whatever emotional issue is in vogue that day.

We live in a society where millions are not taught to reason, do not value personal responsibility, do not understand economics, and has rejected religion so does not understand virtue. These voters are increasing in number, not shrinking. Add the millions of illegal immigrants and refugees who have no desire to assimilate into American society but love the social programs, and you have nearly 50% of the population ready to vote “D” in every election without thinking about the implications of the choice.

“No matter what the polls say 48% of the votes or more will go to the Democrat.”

I am sorry but I stopped reading right here. You have no way of knowing how many will vote for anyone in any given election. Future results do not automatically follow from past results.

This election as was Trumps win in 2016 prove if nothing else that no figures produced or reported by the media can be used to formulate a prognosis.

“... the plaza’s status as a National Historic Landmark...”

Does that make this destruction a federal crime?

Thanks for the ping Dave.

Much like Denver, Portland and other leftist cities, the police are complicit rather than incompetent....

Well, they may be both....

Or maybe some do want to enforce the law, but their leftist political masters won’t allow it.

And Albuquerque. That's what happened at the shooting at the Onate statute protest. The police were ordered to stay out of the way and were stationed out of sight behind a building. It wasn't until Steven Baca shot an antifa attacker in self defense did they interfere. And Baca's the one arrested and is going to trial.
