Portland protesters topple statues of Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln in ‘Day of Rage’; police declare riot

A group of protesters toppled statues of former presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln in Portland’s South Park Block late Sunday before moving into other areas of downtown, smashing windows and engaging in other acts of destruction.

Police declared the event a riot and ordered people in the area to disperse but did not directly intervene until nearly an hour after the first statue fell. The crowd scattered when police cruisers flooded the area, and officers appeared to make several arrests.

Protest organizers had promoted the event on social media as an “Indigenous Peoples Day of Rage.” Monday is the federally observed holiday of Columbus Day, but many states and cities now recognize the day instead as Indigenous Peoples Day over concerns that Christopher Columbus' arrival in the Americas helped launch centuries of violence against indigenous populations.

The organizers had signaled their aggressive stance for the night, calling for “direct action” and demanding that the video live-streamers and photographers who had become staples of such events stay away. People in the crowd were repeatedly admonished not to film. Passersby who happened upon the group where ordered by people in the crowd to stop filming or delete photographs, including an apartment resident who had lasers shined at his eyes and a liquid thrown in his face as he appeared to film the scene from his terrace.

The group, about 200 strong, marched through downtown Portland, at one point occupying all four lanes of West Burnside Street.

As the crowd reached the South Park Blocks, a group threw chains on ropes on the Roosevelt statue, a bronze sculpture officially titled “Theodore Roosevelt, Rough Rider,” as others took a blowtorch to its base and splattered it with red paint.

Well, I think it’s more than Dems. This is not profound as we all know, but Rhinos like Dubya, disappointingly Cheney, etc. have not been vocal about unprecedented attacks, physical and sometimes killing other people supposedly who shared the values they campaigned on and secured votes by us to allow them office. Aside from their distaste of Trump, they could’ve commented at the very least what their former voters/supporters have gone through in this era with the democrat party leveraging antifa and Black Lives Matter against every day Americans.

Does anyone have any links where our former President George W. Bush or Cheney has concern for the former supporters?

I should have included RINO’s in my initial statement about the democrats ruining our country. Good point. But all of this is eventually coming to a close with a one world government ruled by the anti-Christ. Maybe the first question for everyone to ask before they vote is “What is my relationship with the Lord and where will I spend eternity?” We will be held accountable for who we vote for. Knowingly voting for anti-God candidates is not very wise.

In OR-04, after years of nominating a rather odd candidate, this time around the GOP has nominated a National Guardsman combat veteran who helped to stop a terrorist on a Paris train in 2015. Alek Skarlatos*

OR-04 encompasses southwestern OR, while Portland is OR-03. Trump lost the state by 10.6 points in 2016, but given the insanity in Portland I think OR is going to be competitive this time around. I was in OR 2+ months ago, and there was a lot of disgust with the Democrats. And that was before the governor completely botched the wildfire response. Both parties are spending money on OR-04, meaning both sides view it as competitive.

Trump lost this district four years ago by a mere 1/10 of a point.

That would be awesome. But I’ll settle for Trump cutting his OR margin in half the GOP recapturing OR-04. So far the Trump campaign appears to be completely ignoring Oregon. I understand, in that they don’t need the state’s electoral votes. But it would be nice to see some headlines about the OR campaigns and a little money sent that way.

I don’t buy the premise that Columbus inflicted violence on the locals. He arrived in three small ships, crew size about 40 each. Had he imposed violence on the locals he would have ended up like Custer.
