Coons Says That Confirming Barrett 'Constitutes Court-Packing'

Senate Judiciary Committee member Sen. Chris Coons said on Sunday that the Senate moving to confirm President Trump's Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett "constitutes court-packing," and called the nominee's views "disqualifying."

Coons, D-Del., made the comments during an interview with "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace. Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., also spoke with Wallace Sunday.

"I'm going to be laying out the ways in which Judge Barrett's views ... are not just extreme, they're disqualifying," Coons said of Democrats' strategy for Barrett's hearings. "It constitutes court-packing."

Court-packing's traditional definition is expanding the Supreme Court by law and then confirming justices to those seats, not what Republicans are doing, which is filling a naturally occuring vacancy. Sasse shot back that Coons' definition of court-packing was "obviously" incorrect and accused the Democrat of using "Orwellian" language.

They must have tested the word “packing”. Of course “packing” appeals to the gay crowd too.

Senate Judiciary member Sen. Chris Coons said that Pres Trump’s USSC nominee Amy Coney Barrett “constitutes court-packing....

One of the dumbest statements ever spoken by a US Senator.

REALITY CHECK: The Judicial Procedures Reform Bill of 1937, frequently called the “court-packing plan,”
was proposed by then-Pres FDR to add more justices to the USSC .

FDR wanted to coerce favorable rulings regarding New Deal legislation that the USSC had ruled unconstitutional.

The central provision of the FDR bill would have granted the president power to appoint an additional justice to the USSC,
to a maximum of six, for every member of the court over the age of 70 years and 6 months.

BACKSTORY In the Judiciary Act of 1869, Congress had established that the USSC would consist of the chief justice and eight associate justices.

I wish they would make up their damn “minds” cause the very last article I saw was singing the praises of court packing whereas the implication here is that it’s a bad thing. Guess it depends on who exactly is the one doing the packing.

Tucker covered this Friday. The RATs plan to use identity politics to pack the court. Saying their aren’t enough blacks, women, Hispanics, etc on the court - so they aren’t really packing, they are going to make the courts look like America ... God help us ...

Gandpa Joe also called confirming Barret court packing, so yeah, this is not a coincidence.

You will soon hear the talking heads calling it court packing, and it will eventually be parroted by the public.

One of the dumbest statements ever spoken by a US Senator.

Who happens to be a man that looked way too happy when a touchy-feely, corrupt old colleague now running for the big seat got in his young daughter's space.

To modern Democrats, there is apparently nothing wrong with letting one's little girl take one for the team, and Coons is a good modern Democrat.

All the Democrats are saying this exact phrase - it’s the official approved talking point of the week. Even Slow-Joe managed to read it correctly from his teleprompter yesterday.

Apparently these talking points are distributed on Saturday mornings so that all the imbeciles have a day to practice before reciting them like lemmings on the Sunday morning talk shows.

Why was she confirmed just 3 years ago to the 7th Circuit?

Coons is just one of the dumbest men in the Senate.
