If you are looking for the scientific rationale behind universal mask-wearing, you certainly won't find it now that the issue has become as political as guns, abortion, and taxes. We are now at a point where Canada's chief public health officer is calling on people to wear masks when engaging in sexual activities and 19-month-old babies are being forced to wear them on airplanes. There is no rational thought in a political cult. But what did the governmental and scientific literature say on the issue before it became political?

This is sick what they're doing to the people of this nation. Seeing people putting masks on little babies in carriages walking down street sidewalks with no one any where near them to infect or be infected. People riding around in cars wearing a mask with the windows rolled up and no one else even in the car with them. This is a gorey freak show being perpetrated on this nation all for a political scam.
This is straight up conditioning the population to accept authoritarian control. We can see what's coming up next. Once they got away with the abomination fraud sodomite Obama and his tranny wife for 8 YEARS they knew they could get away with anything.
Masks work on the rest of the planet, especially in East Asia where the social custom is to wear them in a pandemic.
I can think of no reason why they don’t help in the USA.
Somebody owns these mask factories. Multiply a box of 50 masks for $12 and multiply by the billions of masks that have been worn, somebody has made a billion dollars easily.
The masks have always been an absolute joke. To me, it demonstrates more clearly than anything, just how incredibly stupid, gullible, and easily frightened most people are. It is insane and it must stop.

All the masks I’ve bought came from China. They are cashing in big time. What a mind-boggling scam.
We were hiking in Glacier National Park last week and about 20% of the hikers were wearing masks. In a wilderness with 30 mph winds most days! Most appeared to be hipster doofus-types from the West Coast. Some were older people who looked at you like they had seen a ghost when you came around the corner. I ran out of snide comments.
Reading comprehension helps. The China virus is 1/30th the size of mask filtrations. Here something you might understand, imagine a car driving down a 20-lane highway with no barriers. That's what a mask looks like to the virus. They don't do anything other than pacify cowards, and in reality the cowards still piss their pants in fear.
As for a reason not to wear a mask that is 100 times more important than masks being ineffective, that would be freedom and liberty are more important than the anti-science whims of ignorant, power thirsty tyrants.
I wish I knew a way to invest in the plastic takeout crap you see everywhere. Someone needs to tell the libtards that stuff ends up in a landfill and it doesn’t biodegrade.

What are the politicians to do? Tell the public that we’re in the middle of a viral pandemic for which there’s no cure?
Instead tell the (suckers) that wearing a mask is a proactive measure they can take to avoid getting infected. People want to think there is something they can do to avoid the virus.
Never mind that there is no clinical evidence that mask wearing achieves anything. Bureaucrats with letters after their names rule us now.

Just watch how people wear them at a restaurant. Get out of car, put on mask. Get seated take off mask. Eat meal. Put on mask and leave. Get to car, take off mask. Toss on center console and repeat for a week.
Not one bit of hand washing, clean masks, etc. Not only are you touching any CCPVirus but any other viruses, germs, bacteria that are on the mask, table, pocket, etc. and putting it on you face.
Back in July I rand into a group hiking wearing masks, face shield and gloves.

Then they would have a smattering of knowledge of PPE.
Of course the masks being worn by most folks do almost nothing to protect the wearer.
They do a reasonably good job of protecting everyone else form the wearer.
Even when hiking or doing other outdoor activities, when coming within 6 feet of others outside your family group that lives together, one should put on a mask, then remove it when away from others.
Being in a car either alone or with family members and wearing a mask is absurd.
If there is a person outside your close family group in the car though, you should have masks on.
It's insane that this has been politicized in the USA and some other countries.
Masks have been used for many years in other countries to reduce the spread of illnesses.

Masks are the same but different as other PPE we wear.
Ear protection when shooting firearms, steel toed shoes, goggles and safety glasses, Kevlar chaps when using a chainsaw, helmet when riding a motorcycle or snowmobile, etc.
How do these morons expect you to eat cheesecake with a mask on?
The problem with this statement is that 90% of transmissions are between family members or people that you are in an enclosed space with. I was the senior officer on a big city hazmat team for many years. The masks that people are wearing and the way that they are using them make them less than useless in the current situation. In that way they are not like other PPE (personal protective equipment) which actually do provide protection from whatever hazard they were intended for.
