Being in a car either alone or with family members and wearing a mask is absurd.
If you are on the way to the store from home, it is wholly silly, as you say.
If you have been in a contaminated area, taking the mask off and not treating it and you as contaminated in the car may well make a difference - assuming you were wearing it right to begin with.
And those people get to vote.

I can think of no reason why they don’t help in the USA.
Condoms work to reduce the chances of pregnancy, but I'm not wearing one for the entire date. Wear one where it most makes sense, not everywhere all the time.
Also, I'm not taking medical advice from countries that believe ground up rhino horn will help you in the bedroom, or electric fans will kill you in your sleep.
I wear a mask that says “PLACEBO.” I wore it every day in Disney World in August and got favorable comments each time. Sometimes I mix it up by wearing my Trump Train mask. No kitties or rainbows for me. I’d rather wear a mask to point out how useless they are.

I’m on the fence about masks so I wear one for thirty seconds and take it off for thirty seconds. This way I can’t be too far from maximum effectiveness.

Yeah, well, I wish FReeepers who had MOPP training actually paid ATTENTION,knew what they were talking about, understood viruses, were educated in the multitude of studies that have shown over 40 years of science that masks don’t stop airborne viruses, and weren’t giant bootlicking vaginas, but we can’t all get what we want, right?
People say they work in some cultures like Asian , but some of these people are very superstitious, A slip of paper In front of a face with air rushing out the sides cant stop a virus no more than burning paper to appease dead spirts. Many of mask are made in china and say right on the package “not intended for medical,use”
Doctors wearing paper masks are doing so to prevent dripping while looking down over an open wound.. if handling a deadly virus they ain’t protecting themselves with just a slip of paper over their snout .
Those who say “follow the science wear a mask, save a life” seem to not care to look at any data,, science is about data, not feelings , just look at the death rates for all the places where a mask mandate been applied, every place deaths per day in all cases show no difference before or after,
For these reasons , i don't see the purpose of a mask, or how is it people are ok taking them off at a restaurant table, but are fine having somebody guarding at the door to only let mask people in.. makes no sense.
But the biggest irony is the same people for years who have lectured us about the government not being allowed to mandate what we do with our own bodies and that people have a right to choose ( to kill or not) are the ones most vocal about everybody has to use a mask. Likewise, these are the same people who lecture us how CO2 is a poison gas, and clean air...you cant make this stuff up

Masks provide a false sense of security to idiots. Had to go to clinic (at hospital) to see doctor today. Two idiots wearing masks coughed right in my face, apparently thinking their cutesy cloth mask is a total germ barrier.
The babies and kids get me too. Bathing their brains in fear causes chemical and epigenetic changes. I understand we should follow the law, but this is not one, so i am not. 10% of my staff has had it, no one hospitalized. One was an older breast cancer survivor.

You are right...it is conditioning....and look how well its working.
I was taught in the army (Canadian infantry) that you need full hazmat with supplied oxygen to protect against a virus. Masks are useless. A canistered gas mask with the right canisters will filter down, but then everything gets exhaled anyways. Hard to breath for long in one anyways.

MS opened up - still a lot of conditioned folks wearing their masks..at least I haven’t seen or heard of any local mask Nazis down here..
