NBA Finals game 1 was the least watched finals game in recorded history, plummeting 44% off last year’s awful ratings, down 58% off the last time LeBron was in the finals two years ago. Get woke, go broke.
The opening game of the series between the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat brought 7.41 million viewers to ABC, the smallest audience for the finals since at least 1994, when total viewers began to be regularly recorded. The previous low was 8.06 million for Game 3 of the 2007 NBA Finals.

It’s LBJ fatigue. Ratings will stay down until James retires, maybe longer. The NBA works for Lebron James. He is entitled to win titles.
I’ve been saying years that the NBA has evolved into a series of high profile pickup games. The best players recruit the other best players, show up at the gym and say “we got next.”
The rest of the teams scramble to sign the best remaining players.
What reasons could there be, for the plummeting ratings?

Not only did the NBA not see that coming, but only half the audience saw the NBA not see it coming.
7.41 million viewers in a nation of 330 million people. Just think about the number in that context to understand how badly the NBA’s business fortunes have declined.
He hasn’t won that many titles. He gets to the Finals every year though.
You can thank morons like Lebron James for this disaster. His racist statements and love of China have turned half the Country off. The BLM signage has hurt as well.

I wonder how the players who make substantially less dough feel about his guy nothing off against America, driving viewership to a point where sports are begging people to tune in.
Since LA won the first game I hope they win in four blowout games and get it done with the least advertising dollars spent.
I don’t watch bouncy ball. And people should not get rich playing bouncy ball,too.
