The optimistic view is that this is a very deep game and that a traitor from London who had damning evidence about the coup was brought over to Washington and put in a position where she could be watched and criminal evidence against her could be gathered for on-going treason she is committing stateside. Then she can be squeezed for coup information as part of a deal.
