As the wall neared the Spring, Leftist activists became increasingly physical in their resistance.
Now the area is closed off to protesters, and construction crews are closing in on the area closest to the Spring from both sides. It should be completely walled off from Mexico this week (or at the most, next week).
The Tohono O’odham Reservation is larger than Delaware and Rhode Island combined.
They started out with great histrionics (and lawsuits) about the endangered Quitobaquito Pupfish:
Then later it was about migrating animals, and finally there was great (feigned) drama about "Sacred" Indian this and that, implying that this site was on the Reservation, when it is not (it is National Parks Service property).
This week, the wall there will be standing 30 feet tall, and the massive concrete foundation will be curing in place. They can just move on to making up more BS about something else, somewhere else.
It is a living for professional Leftist Drama Queens, like Laiken Jordahl of the Center for Biological Diversity in Tucson:
They should have made a deal with Mexico to bring the entire reservation into the US, and then build the wall south of the new boundary of the reservation.

They have about 60 miles of border with Mexico, and have declined getting new Border Barrier in the Trump Program (most of their border has some type of barrier, mostly vehicle barrier).
They did agree to upgraded technology (including complete coverage by Integrated Fixed Towers, going in now), but long runs of new Trump-style Super Wall System are going up on the East and West of the Reservation, so some of the existing regional traffic is likely to flood through their remaining gaps, as the Arizona Border is getting rapidly walled off from Mexico.
Gad. It is just another grain of sand in a large pile of tactics used by the Left to obstruct, delay, or cause costs of a project to balloon wildly.
Up in Massachusetts, for the Big Dig (which had massive corruption and cost issues all of its own) they had to build a new bridge (The Leonard P. Zakim Bridge...named for a Far Left radical, and up here, that is saying a lot)
One of the things they did to try and hold it up was to assert that the shadow of the bridge on the Charles River would prevent the Alwifes (a herring-like fish that swims upstream in fresh water to spawn) from swimming upstream and would damage the schools.
They had to redesign the bridge to include slat-openings that would allow sunlight to shine through so the fish wouldn’t stop there. It is a pretty cool bridge, and was at the time, the widest cable stayed bridge in the world.
I take it that, other than the “two indigenous women,” none of the protesters are members of the Tohono O’odham tribe. ?
Build the wall!
Many years ago Americans could travel by vehicle on a dirt road north of the border from Lukeville nearly to Yuma. The traffickers used it and the Feds closed off the road. Thus, travelers have not been able to use it for years. I doubt if there is an American aside from the Border Patrol that has visited the spring in the last twenty years.
So the Reservation will have a 60 mile gap? Seems like a nightmare for BP to stop human traffic through there. President Trump may need to do a little arm twisting to close so large a gap.

The Toronto O’odham Nation (TON) Reservation has a good bit of previous barrier, mainly vehicle barrier.
They have had a lot of drug traffic, but relatively less human trafficking.
They will be at risk of more traffic getting channeled through their remaining openings - but they will be getting a bunch of new technology (virtual wall).
It is going to be a real test of that technology. Agents freed up by other barrier might flood into those remaining gaps as well.
Also, cartels are likely to focus on their border gaps, as never before. The stakes are likely going to rise there - Some will profit, and likely more will suffer.
Perhaps in time the local Indians will decide it’s time to let the builders of the Wall complete their task. Close the gap. Protect themselves from the Cartels, Coyotes, hippie tourists, etc.

The reservation extends into the Mexican state of Sonora! That is the big problem with this section of the Wall.

There is a subset of Toronto O’odham people on the Mexican side of the border from the US Reservation - but that is not where the Wall is being built. No wall is being built on that reservation, out of the 738 miles that were funded under the Trump Administration.
Leftists try to make it sound like that, but these Springs are on National Park Service land, not the Reservation.
Very few of the 2 - 3 dozen Leftist creeps who show up to protest, are even O’odham people.

Smuggling routes will likely shift onto that reservation, as new wall rapidly blocks the best routes. We had not completed 100 miles of President Trump’s new Super Wall System until this very year. We will likely pass 350 miles in next Monday’s report, and 450 by year’s end.
All those miles are carefully prioritized, meaning the bulk of pre-existing illegal traffic will be diverting to new routes. It is going to be pretty epic.
If the Wall is not being built across the Toronto O’odham reservation, that will live a gap. There is already smuggling across the reservation, by Toronto O’odham people and especially by others.
