On the first day of my political philosophy class at Shawnee State University in the spring of 2019, a biologically male student raised his hand and I called on him, unwittingly using the now-incendiary words, “Yes, sir.”
As a professor of philosophy, I view the classroom as a place of dynamic discussion and exchange. And I work hard to foster an atmosphere of civility and rational discourse, a place where students can seek truth. This student approached me after class and said that he identified as a woman and demanded, from that point on, that I refer to him as a woman, using feminine terms.
In the ensuing weeks and months, I offered to accommodate him by referring to him only by his name. But the university administration informed me that, on pain of disciplinary action, including termination, I must call him and all students by their preferred non-biological pronouns (including recently concocted ones like “ze”, “xe” or “ter”), or I would have to eliminate any terms that refer to a person’s gender from my vocabulary at all times, on campus or off, with any students.
This would mean purging all pronouns, terms like “Mr.” and “Ms.,” and even words like “brother” and “sister,” “father” and “mother.” This would require me to speak the English language as it has never been spoken in the history of Western civilization.

Next to the MSM not doing their job, ignoring any damaging news on any Democrat, this is the biggest cancer in the USA. A sick, twisted and vile view of reality where people simply state what they want, and demand we comply, or lose our jobs.
I hope this professor wins, and decimates the university where he taught.
Tolerance is not allowed, no matter who right you are.

Henceforce, even if you’re a professor, the proper way to address a raised hand is with a nod and “yo”.
Until “yo” becomes problematic, symbolic of something, not appreciative enough of someone’s lives, etc., etc. Then it can evolve to “ze” and continue the iterative process of P.C. ad infinitum.
My brother teaches high school. He has resorted to using last name only.
He can get busted for not supporting the brain addled skull full of mush if the parents are equally disturbed.
But if he refers to the brain addled skull full of mush by their chosen gender and the parents are not equally disturbed, he can still get in trouble.
We have become a very sick society.
And I must say a good deal of the blame for that rests with us conservatives who just keep taking it.
at some colleges, if student or staffer posts note that s/he/it wants to be called by Mr. or Mrs. or whatever,
regardless of sex or marital status
and if a professor or staff person doesn’t look it up and make sure to use it, whatever the posted pronoun may be
that professor or staffer can be fired or disciplined
some students have taken to trapping professors using the “wrong” pronouns and holding them ransom for high grades regardless of any lack of performance or merit
Simple fix....
At the beginning of the year assign each student a number, 1 through whatever. When addressing them for any purpose address them only by number.
Any work turned in for grading will require the number on the paper or no grade will be given.
If anyone complains just explain that it is socialism in action.
The classroom is the state and the teacher, as leader of the classroom, decides everything for everyone.
Watch heads explode.
And if your brother refers to someone by their “wrong” last name. . . even though recently changed for some reason . . .
Crazy years
I suppose I wouldn’t last as a post-high school teacher (i.e., a “university professor”) in this “modern era” as I use only one of three pronouns: He; She; or It ... and I chose which one I use. C’est la vie.
My dad would have just called everyone “shxt for brains”. He didn’t teach long though. Were we talking about KEEPING the job?
That is why it needs to be fought.
If ever I’m arrested and sent to prison, I will declare myself a woman (so I can screw the ladies).
Many comments at The Hill are mind-numbingly stupid. You’d think that DU is out for recess.
