The president’s offensiveness to black voters, combined with Mr Biden’s own limitations as a campaigner, have made it hard for the challenger to make a positive case for himself. “He’s got a good heart, he’s one of us,” was the most the voters in and around Greenville said for Mr Biden. This might suggest his support among African- Americans is wider than it is deep. Which in turn could suggest it will not take much to stop them turning out in the numbers he needs. And covid-19 is a lot. Alongside their loathing for the president, almost all the North Carolinians appeared terrified of the virus, which has hit black America disproportionately hard. Most spoke to the canvassers from behind a screen or a front door held slightly ajar. “I’m sorry, baby,” said Ms Ellis, of Greenville Heights, to explain why she would not step outside. “We’re scared.”

Interesting article which confirms my experiences with African Americans, who I deal with every day of my life as an attorney. AAs, IMO, are by far the most frightened of the China Virus. "We're scared," said one of the voters interviewed in the article. The level of paranoia in the black community vis-a-vis China Virus is off of the charts, especially black women. This article also cites "polling data" that shows that blacks will vote at a clip 9 points higher than 2016. These pollsters are nuts if they think that black voters will surge in this election. Additionally, liberal white women are a close second, IMO, in their fear of the China Virus. That's why the polls we are seeing have little relation to the reality on the ground. People who are afraid to talk with a stranger at their door are not going to flock to crowded polling places and vote. There will be a substantial drop-off in black voting,etc. Discuss...

Yeah. My wife is far more afraid of the virus than I am. But I figure if I survived Vietnam that God might help me out here too. She’s never faced anything really brutal in her life. Just 1st world problems. That’s true of most Americans. Most people’s idea of a bad day is a source of humor for me.

So, my take away from the article and the comments is this. The MSM pushed the COVID-19 threat as hard as possible, scared the heck out of all their viewers, now those viewers won’t go out and vote!

Just like Harry Reid and the nuclear option, the left keeps shooting itself in the foot.

The Economist is full of it. Trump has higher approval ratings with blacks than any Republican President in recent history. Trump has done more to improve the lives of blacks in just 47 months than Buden gas done in 47 years.

combined with Mr Biden’s own limitations as a campaigner, have made it hard for the challenger to make a positive case for himself.

Biden has done nothing for blacks. Spent most of his political life bringing in laws to put more blacks in jail(the 1994 crime bill that he wrote). I don't know any black who is crazy about this joker. There is zero positive case to be made for him.
Some blacks will vote for him merely because they always vote Democratic. Will there be high black turn out for Dementia Joe? Not a chance.

Believe it or not, I used to subscribe to this magazine back in the 80’s. They were not quite so bad then and they had pretty good takes on the tech industry and other matters. I stopped reading it when Bush was elected in 2000 they turned into deranged Bush haters and anti everything Republican.
