Democratic super PAC jumps into South Carolina race against Lindsey Graham
The Hour ^ | September 28, 2020 | Seung Min Kim

The main super PAC supporting the election of Democrats to the Senate is preparing to invest millions in South Carolina - a fresh signal that Democrats see the race against Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., as winnable.

Senate Majority PAC will launch a new, $6.5 million ad campaign in South Carolina on Monday, marking the first time that the super PAC has gone on the air this cycle in the traditional GOP stronghold. The effort to bolster Democrat Jaime Harrison's prospects includes $5 million in television ads and a $1.5 million digital campaign.

The television ad, which launches Tuesday, focuses on prescription drug prices, criticizing Graham for having "gone Washington" and "gone bad" on the issue.

"There's a reason Lindsey Graham is hitting the panic button and begging for donations on cable news: He's vulnerable and he knows it," said the super PAC's president, J.B. Poersch. "Jaime Harrison has put this seat in play by running a strong campaign and earning the trust of South Carolinians who are ready for change."

Harrison has rapidly become one of the most impressive fundraisers among Democratic Senate candidates, raking in $1 million in just one day earlier this month after a Quinnipiac Poll showed him tied with Graham.

Yet Graham, as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is poised to play a starring role in the confirmation fight over Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court - an issue likely to galvanize voters in the conservative state.

Flimsey Grahamnesty only has himself to blame for being in trouble in this election.
His opponent is using his own words in ads against him.

Whenever you see this doofus on Fox News you get one more recurring confirmation that he doesn’t represent South Carolina. He’s a Beltway senator, and he may get his ass thrown out of office for ignoring his own constituents.

Right - let everyone jump on Lindsay...it follows such an announcement!!! No one cares a whit that money is going to decide this and all the other races and you’re okay with that apparently. And people ask “what’s going on - what’s happening to our country?” Look in the mirror.

Am I wrong here or wouldn’t it be much better for Graham to get that SCOTUS hearing scheduled for close to right away?

That wishy washy October 12th date makes any procedural or other delay by the Dems (or riot or bomb threat making it impossible to get into the hearing room for instance) much too close to the election. Then the Dems could be victorious over the nominee getting confirmed in time. And the Romney and Murkowski types could have an out.

Money isn’t everything, Hillary outspent Trump by huge amounts.

Flimsey’s problems are of his own making.

Is Graham really in trouble in SC? Somehow I doubt it, but if some Carolinians know, please share.

If this guy simply spent Monday through Friday actually doing the things he promised to do on the Sunday TV talk shows, he wouldn't be facing a serious challenge like this in a heavily Republican state.

This website is filled with people who voted for Donald Trump because we're tired of the useless, feckless @ssholes who have been representing us in Washington for decades.

Maybe Trump will do a few protest gatherings in SC.

Right. I don't see how. I would like to know. I damn well want Graham to be re-elected.

They are throwing their money away.

Though I would trade Grahamcracker for any pub running against an incumbent dem. Linseed is the old guard personified - the diminishing GOP-e that Trump is taking us away from.

Lindsey Graham will win re-election on the powerful coat tails of Donald J. Trump!!! If Graham has any brains....he better move the Supreme Court Judge appointment along at full rocket speed. Screw every Democrat Party, piece of scum & Vermin.

One week of hearings, then out of committee, and voted on within two weeks, Do it Lindsey Graham, and you will be re-elected a Senator for the next six years....grow a spine & backbone at the same time. You have the votes...now make it happen today!!!

No you’re not wrong. Linda doesn’t seem to realize he has angered his base by waiting until the twelfth. It is this soft ball foot dragging that has him in trouble. The rats would have the vote done by the end of this week. He just seems clueless.

If I'm ACB and I've just been nominated for a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court, I'd hope to have at least a week or two to prepare for my Senate confirmation hearing.

I'm surprised to see how many Freepers are so clueless about this.

I am suspicious about the rinos who fell in line so quickly. Notice they all used the vague “this year” phrase when committing to a vote. I think Graham loses if he doesn’t get the vote done before the election. I have doubts that he realizes this. In fact l think Trump and Mitch will lose too.

Yup. If he wasn’t such a squish, Lindsay wouldn’t be in danger.

Flimsey is right. The man is a political chameleon who changes colors to fit in with whatever background he thinks is advantageous for him at that moment. In many respects he’s the prototypical GOP politician. No principles, convictions or beliefs. Elections are the only thing that drives them.

As are many of them. Consider where their paychecks come from. Straight from the U.S. Treasury.
