The son of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani may be following in his father's footsteps, telling the New York Post that he may run for mayor in 2021.
The elder Giuliani has been highly critical of current Mayor Bill de Blasio, and Andrew is no different. In discussing his potential political plans, he warned that if the next mayor is like the present one, the city could descend to lows not seen in decades.
"I am certainly thinking about it. Its something that a bunch of people that I trust have approached me with, Andrew Giuliani, 34, told The Post. Its been terrible to see over the last few years how the city has spiraled. I am afraid if the right candidate doesnt win in 2021, four more years of de Blasios policies will remind us of the '80s."
He went on to say that de Blasio "does not value the New York Police Department and he does not value what they have done for the city," citing recent budget cuts and the elimination of the plainclothes anti-crime unit.
It was Rudy Giuliani who was credited with bringing New York City back from the depths by being tough on crime. His son outlined how he would use a similar philosophy if he ends up with the job.
Its broken-windows policing, its empowering the NYPD to do their job, its bringing the private sector in and making them more accountable for creating economic opportunity, its reintroducing the free market to some of these low-income communities in New York City that have been stuck on the cycle of government dependency for so long, he told the Post.

For now, Andrew Giuliani works as a public liaison assistant for President Trump, and he remains focused on the upcoming election.
I’m from NYC.
He’ll win my borough, Staten Island.
And that’s it.
The days of there being enough people to be fed up enough to vote R are gone.
The Staten Island Italians and the Brooklyn Jewish folks put Rudy over the top but that’s when there were sane people in other boroughs and areas too.
Now there’s not.
Maybe a few in each borough..but not enough.
Then maybe it’s time to repeal the 1902 New York state law that merged five counties into New York City.
What else has he done that will qualify him to be Mayor? I’m not being sarcastic, but I have no idea of his qualifications other than ‘my father was mayor.’ Of course, Richie Daley used this to get elected in Chicago.
Not an NYC voter, but I’m skeptical. Of course anyone’s better than DeBlasio. The Giuliani kids were both bratty as youths. And Andrew’s sister Caroline is an Obama/Biden supporting left-wing shoplifter (I know, all that’s redundant, as looting/shoplifting is standard operating procedure for Obama/Biden voter).
Based on his STATED governing philosophy, I’d say he would be better than Commie De Blasio. And with his father’s guidance, I’d say he won’t be all that bad at all.
Heck, as a New Yorker ( who does not live but used to work in the City ), I’d say ABD ( Anybody but De Blasio ) would be a better voting choice.
... he would be better than Commie De Blasio.
The list of people who would not be better than deblasio is short.
I didn’t even know when that happened.
We tried to secede about 20 years ago, I think, but they need a borough where people actually work to support the bronx
I am sick of the family dynasties. If I lived in NYC, I’d skip voting for him or any of these entitled family-tied candidates. Sick of them everywhere.
We're going to see government positions filled on rotation by semi-willing individuals like jury duty or lawyers rotating through public defender cases.
Who is his mother? Donna Hanover? She’s a whackjob.
She used to do TV news here in Pittsburgh. Graduated
from that to The Vagina Monologues.
Its hardly a dynasty. Giuliani hasnt been active in politics for years.
His son seems to have been active in politics, but not as a player. However, he has probably has acquired some background.
Name recognition can be good, especially in NYC where none of the recent theoretical GOP challengers have been known at all.
And as for running, why not? Hell stand or fall on his own qualifications. Its not like hes a Kennedy in MA, and even then, the most recent Kennedy lost.
The kid’s a loon.
Id rather see Don Jr. as mayor
NYC is so perverse and so far gone I predict Anthony Weiner is the next mayor.
Yes, Andrew and Caroline are the Donna Hanover litter.
One question that should be answered: If his name was Smith instead of Giuliani, would his record and potential qualify him as a legitimate candidate?
That’s a good one; Trump will do it backwards. Start at the top and work his way down! President, Senator from NY, congressman from NY, Governor of NY, Mayor of NYC, local school board...wonder if he has enough years left?
