Schools in Logan, Oh., were forced into a lockdown Thursday due to protests, confirmed the Marietta Times. These protests were spurred by an incident that occurred Wednesday, in which a woman watching a middle school football game got tasered by a school resource officer for not wearing a mask. These protests were in support of the officers actions.
The woman, Alecia Kitts, was watching her sons game in the bleachers with her mother, who was also not wearing a mask, says The Marietta Times. The two were approached by the schools assistant principal, Adam Twiss, to comply with the mandatory face coverings policy despite being outside and socially distanced. The officer was also called upon to intervene.
In the video recorded by fellow game-watchers, Kitts can be seen resisting the school resource officers attempt to handcuff her. In the midst of the struggle, the resource officer tasers her in the back, causing her to fall to the ground and finally be subdued.
The school resource officer, identified as Officer Chris Smith, had warned Kitts that should she not put on her face mask, she would be cited for trespassing and escorted from the game. After the tasing incident came to pass, Kitts was formally charged with criminal trespassing as well as other charges that are currently pending.
It is important to note, the female was not arrested for failing to wear a mask, she was asked to leave the premises for continually violating school policy, noted Logan Police Department on Facebook. Once she refused to leave the premises, she was advised she was under arrest for criminal trespassing, she resisted the arrest, which led to use of force.
The protesters outside the Logan Police Department agree. Showing their support of Officer Smiths actions, they touting signs proclaiming, Back the blue, Stand with Smitty, and Smitty, you make the world a better place. The school lockdown stems from suspected threats.
So, if she would have been wearing a mask she would NOT have been criminally trespassing?
That is my impression.
Businesses and local governments get themselves into serious trouble when they decide to go one better than the State directives and add their own augmentations.
The school won’t be able to claim following DeWine’s order as a defense.
Haaahhaah! Exactly.
at the first sentence, I was all whoo -hoo ! Parents standing up for another parent. Then I got to the part that said ‘ These protests were in support of the officers actions” and stopped reading.
... in violation of the ADA. Apparently some insane pronouncements by power mad bureaucracy overturns national law passed by the house, senate, and signed by the president.
The jack booted thug didn't bother to actually understand the fake law that he was enforcing. If you are medically exempt, you do not have to wear a mobile petri dish.
But of course, there will always be those here on FR that offer knee jerk support of thugs, who are special because of their fashionable blue uniform.
Ah, yes, cut to the chase. That was exactly the reason she was arrested. I respect that woman, the men standing around... Not so much.
I like the way you think.
It’s not the end of the story, it is the beginning of a pay out to this lady from this city and maybe the cop getting fired. People get killed for less.
BACK THE BLUE, NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO!!!
Oh, wait a minute . . .

Maurice Thompson of 1851 Project is taking her case. He means business and is a winner.
Thanks for the feedback and good legal news for this lady!
What are they protesting? The tazed woman has no power. The mask nazis got their way.
So then she was arrested for not wearing a mask outside.
The crazy school tyrants said so.
