I see no reason to have hearings. Put the name forward, vote to confirm. Should take 30 minutes.

After the last two circuses no way there should be any hearings.

Just announce the nominee and then schedule the vote.

The hearings are part of the advice and consent process.

From the American memory collection:

IMOW: Washington and Knox proceeded to the Senate Chamber. Washington said he wanted the Treaty before them confirmed.

The Senate said....Whoa...we have never even seen this Treaty before today. We have to discuss it before we can give it our approval.

Washington spoke up in an angry tone..."Then why am I here". He huffed and puffed and left the chamber....totally embarrassed.

“... Republicans; stand with your own voters ...”

That’s asking a lot of them, but there’s a first time for everything.

Didn’t Mitch say 3 days of hearings?

Yeah, but I think he's caved to 4 days of hearings. Either way, it'll take much longer than that because the Democrats will find something they need "more time" to research.

PUbs need to play hard-ball on this one; hurling 103 mph fast balls down the middle of the plate, as we hear Mitch yell -— you’re out!

Linda has to have hearings to show her South Carolina voters how fair and reasonable she is, after all it’s all about Linda Graham.

You just can’t bring yourself to the conclusion that you are wrong and your criticism of Senator Graham is harmful to the conservative effort

Hearings? You want to hear something? Do this with no hearings and it will be the shot heard around the world.

Democrats Fear 87 Year-Old Dianne Feinstein Not Up For Looming Supreme Court Battle

As the Senate prepares for yet another brutal Supreme Court nomination fight, one particularly sensitive issue is creating apprehension among Democrats: what to do with 87-year-old Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee.

Feinstein, the oldest member of the Senate, is widely respected by senators in both parties, but she has noticeably slowed in recent years. Interviews with more than a dozen Democratic senators and aides show widespread concern over whether the California Democrat is capable of leading the aggressive effort Democrats need against whoever President Donald Trump picks to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The Judiciary Committee is the critical battleground in the Supreme Court confirmation process. At stake, her own Democratic colleagues worry, is more than just whether the party can thwart Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) in his rush to fill the seat. Some Democrats privately fear that Feinstein could mishandle the situation and hurt their chances of winning back the majority.

Feinstein sometimes gets confused by reporters’ questions, or will offer different answers to the same question depending on where or when she’s asked. Her appearance is frail.

So Feinstein appears frail and isn’t as sharp as she used to be? I’m just thinking out loud here, but maybe it has something to do with the fact that she’s 87 years old.

Feinstein is skeptical of court packing and ending the filibuster, so her party placed a story in The Politico saying she has “noticeably slowed down” and pondering “what to do with” her. Just a bunch of real peaches over there.

The only thing to fear is fear itself. Remember that one? Time for the GOP to stop fearing the media whipping up the masses. They are already roiled. How many more 3am protests at Mitch’s house does he need?

Barrett was already put thru hearings very recently. SHE doesn’t need a repeat, with Dems stalling until Feb.

She should go straight to confirmation.

She should be wearing a black robe when USSC opens up in Oct.

Ha Ha, I been laughing all afternoon about your funny post, criticism of Linda Graham is harmful to the conservative effort. You have really been fooled to believe that.

Please tell us all about the things Linda has done for the conservative movement, not all the lies that she tells about all the great things she is going to do and never does.

I guess you haven’t noticed that Linda gets really tough every time her election comes around and then after that she wimps out.
