Can that be done by anything less than a Constitutional Amendment?

Very good list. I would add one more item; Congress may not exempt itself from any law it passes. With that provision there would have been no Obamacare, among other things.

I’d be okay with that IF they term limit congress and the Senate.

SECOND, it would be exceedingly stupid as a law when another Congress can modify the law to suit them. Thus an explanation of the reason for having a Constitution! THIS!
I am not opposed to term limits, but I am opposed to Democrats imposing term limits for conservative judges and then removing them in the future for liberal judges.
You can be 100% certain that they would remove the law immediately after establishing a liberal majority.

Not a bad thought, but do congress and senate first.

Constitutional Amendment limiting number of years someone can be in Congress not for SCOTUS.
Term limits for SCOTUS would mean Clarence Thomas would have had to leave in 2009.

These people are really stupid. A Bill or a Law will not cut it. The Constitution mandates lifetime tenure for the Federal Judiciary. They would have to propose a Constitutional Amendment and then get it ratified. Don’t see it happening anytime soon.

Oh sure, now that Ruthies dead they worry about superannuated SCJs!
To: antidemoncrat
Pubbies need to amend it to limit house terms to 10 years and Senate terms to 12 years and see if they want to vote for it!
(I don’t think they can do this with bill. Would have to be a Constitutional amendment.)

I agree...75-78 would be good

I don’t have a problem with term limits for ALL federal judges but SC judges currently on the bench should be exempt to thwart Dem attempts to gain an advantage.Term limit congress while they’re at it

Congress first, with the bill saying you have to live in your district, not in a mansion in a different district (Maxine Walters), live 9 months in the state you represent (and your kids in the local school) and a staff make up of 4 people...

Democrats To Introduce Bill To Term Limit Supreme Court Justices
On first thought, I'm disagreeing with the move...
But...
On second thought...
I'm all for it...
But....
Only if...
Congress and the president agree to...
Term limits for all the house of representatives and for the senate.
3 terms max for house reps, and 1 term for senators.
And...
No automatic retirement benefits for any of them, no matter how many years they served.
