I mean, if this seat is for the federal government

All our representatives are elected in districts with about a million people in each district. Only those million vote for their rep.

I looked it up. The druggie got 5 percent which is eligible for being on the ballot. Then state law says if a person dies within 79 days of the election, the new election is held the second Tuesday of February.
***********************************************

I still don’t think the druggie would qualify as a major party candidate, and I don’t think state law can trump federal law.

Regardless, I still think it’s going to court.

There is no federal law defining parties as major or minor. States make that definition and run elections

Yes, most charitable guess is addiction to pain pills following the ski accident.

Article I, Section 4:

The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.

I thought Federal law forced 1st Tuesday after the first Monday but I could be wrong.

2 U.S.C. 7:

The Tuesday next after the 1st Monday in November, in every even numbered year, is established as the day for the election, in each of the States and Territories of the United States, of Representatives and Delegates to the Congress commencing on the 3d day of January next thereafter.

It seems the election will take place but the results won’t count. WTF.

Silly law passed after Wellstone died and Mondale couldn’t get his 11K absentee votes. Total BS, especially since it involves a minor party candidate. Let there be a special election if the dead weed guy wins lol. Letting the votes transfer to the new candidate is also fine with me for this rare circumstance. Florida did that when that fag Foley withdrew, his name stayed on the ballot but the votes went toward the new nominee (who lost, sadly).

This happened in the UK in 2010, delayed the vote for a safe seat. Silly.

That said, this could be good for us, a low turnout election in Feb for a seat that is 50/50 at best in November. If we win though you hate to give the dyke bitch another chance. Whoever wins in November will take this crap to Federal court.

I WTFed when I saw “inside elections” rated it safe rat. Cook and Politico have it lean. Inside elections can lick the inside of my butt.
