"How was everybody's summer? Good? Mine was great," Ellen DeGeneres said sarcastically in her first monologue for the new season of her talk show. "Super terrific!" she added as she put two thumbs up.
After introducing her virtual audience, DeGeneres got right to it.
"As you may have heard, this summer there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show and then there was an investigation," the talk show host said. "I learned that things happened here that never should have happened. I take that very seriously. And I want to say I am so sorry to the people who were affected. I know that I am in a position of privilege and power and I realize that with that comes responsibility. And I take responsibility for what happens at my show."
Over the summer, former employees of "Ellen" reported workplace harassment in many forms, including bullying, sexism and racism.
"We have made the necessary changes," DeGeneres promised. "And today we are starting a new chapter."

Shes puked out the same meaningless slogans used everywhere in government, entertainment and business to pretend to address a known problem, while actually saying nothing and avoiding responsibility.
Sounds like “some people did something.”
She addressed nothing but use the leftist word salad of meaningless nonsense
I hope no one buys Ellens meaningless, garbage statements. What she is saying is essentially this: Some bad things happened. I, of course, am a wonderful and caring person. But I should have noticed those bad things earlier.
What Ellen doesnt care to admit is that she herself is the bad thing.
How this woman-hating beast has earned even a dollar in the entertainment industry is beyond me. She’s never been funny, she’s homely as hell, and she’s a nasty old biddy with her staff. Yet, she goes on and on and on, like the VIEW goes on and on and on.
[shes homely as hell]
Female Letterman!
I thought her show was cancelled. I am sure I read this awhile back. I’ve never seen the show, so it doesn’t matter to me, except that it would have looked good on her.
“I learned that things happened here that never should have happened.”
Yeah, yeah. You forgot “Mistakes were made.” Sheesh, she’s acting like she first found out about it reading it in the National Enquirer. You were there weren’t you? Ellen? Hello?
So she got a “new season” in spite of everything. Queers are protected.
I hope she brings back Big Mike’s Johnson.
Exactly.
One major criteria for someone working in front of a television camera is the sociopathic defect that enables them to say whatever their handlers tell them. The more sociopathic, the better. So many are also narcissists and sexual deviants since such sociopathy is rarely, if ever, a solo condition.
They're all hired through screenings and casting calls, not from building up their own skills and business.
“Some people did something”.
This is drawn from many years of reading from mostly anonymous sources, but it fits with what came out this summer. My understanding is Ellen is utterly ruthless, going over or through anyone in her way. And she also slept with anyone, either sex, who might help her on the way.
