How's this for weird? If you like to cook, somehow you can't go to the store to get a spice container of paprika anymore.
That's because there isn't any, the shelves are bare.
Lot of people are noticing these days. Tim Carney of the Washington Examiner pointed it out here and others chimed in:

Interesting. Seems cheap labor allowed China to corner many markets.
Are Dem rioters buying it up to throw in people’s faces?
I just bought 16 oz of paprika for Amazon for $16.70. Coincidentally I was seriously considering getting smoked paprika just about an hour ago. That goes for $10.40/16 oz.
I also checked out prices on chipotle chili powder and ancho chili powder. They’re priced at $21.60/16 oz, and $14.95/20 oz, respectively.
I only use Hungarian Paprika.
Hmm, seems to be at least some baloney in this paprika story because when I just checked Amazon it was ALL available... except when I clicked on my favorite smoked paprika: Amazon froze up and I couldn’t reorder it, no matter how many times I tried. So... could be true, I guess, if you’re trying to get the “best” paprika.
What HAPPENS when the 2 most EVIL individuals in the world ARE Americans?

Weird. I havent noticed a shortage, but I use mostly Spanish paprika, smoked or sweet. However, I did happen to notice how much the price of supermarket paprika has risen.
I had no idea that the Chinese were the main producers of it. They seem to have gotten their hooks into everything.
Production for paprika is in Shandong. Shandong is in the area affected by the Three Gorges Dam. They had evacuated a lot of people from the area that would be destroyed if the dam breaks. This might have something to do with it. I haven’t seen anything on the status of the area and the dam recently.
The monsoon season in China is winding down, and the peak is late July/early August.
ThreeGorges Dam is out of danger, but extensive flooding downriver destroyed about a million acres of crops. It was a disastrous year for agriculture in China.
Okay, just went back to Amazon and tried to order a three-pack, even though it’s waaaaay more than I could ever use before the expiration date, unless I went on some kind of insane paprika cooking kick for the next several years. I’m willing to buy that many because a 3-pack is only twice as much as singles ($4 for singles). But sadly, even 3-packs don’t appear to be available at this time. Could try the 6-pack, but that’d be a real waste. Guess we’re just going to have to nurse what we’ve got until the crisis is over. :-(
Okay, I caved. Ordered a pack of 6. What a wuss! Supposed to arrive here Wednesday.
Thanks for posting this.
What black magik spells require paprika?
If Antifa wanted to make homemade pepper spray would they use paprika?
Maybe Democrats are suffering from ulcers because RbG
Dont know any spells, but I tried it in my garden to keep squirrels and birds away from my gardens. Mixed results: birds dont like it; squirrels get used to it after the first day.
Christmas Tree shops is my source.
“If Antifa wanted to make homemade pepper spray would they use paprika?”
If they wanted it to be particularly nasty, they would use ghost peppers or Carolina Reaper peppers. Even a habanero would burn like hell.
I’ve heard that some spells require Nutmeg, but Paprika Im not sure about. There is still plenty at the Dollar Store, not that I shop there a lot./
We can’t find onion powder either.
I thought the Hungarians were big paprika suppliers?
