Trump's 'law and order' message expands electoral map to unlikely battleground state

President Trump has put Democratic challenger Joseph R. Biden on the defensive in Minnesota, an unlikely battleground that hasn’t voted Republican in a presidential election since 1972.

It’s a rare opportunity for Mr. Trump to expand the electoral map and potentially capture Minnesota’s 10 electoral votes to offset a potential loss in Michigan or Wisconsin, two states that he narrowly won in 2016.

Mr. Trump came close to winning Minnesota four years ago. He lost the state to Hillary Clinton by a little more than 1.5 percentage points. This time, his law-and-order message has been amplified by months of unrest and riots in Minneapolis after the death of George Floyd, a Black man, in police custody.

The president’s momentum prompted Mr. Biden’s team to spend millions of dollars on advertising in the state.

“President Trump has tapped into an organic enthusiasm from Minnesotans who are tired of career politicians’ lip service with no results, and we see an opportunity to win Minnesota with voters who want four more years of the president’s ‘America First’ agenda,” said Samantha Zager, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign.

The polling in Minnesota is mixed. Several polls show Mr. Biden with a solid lead, and the Real Clear Politics average of recent polls in the state puts Mr. Biden ahead by 5.8 percentage points.

A recent Emerson poll, however, shows the president outperforming his 2016 exit polls for men and women, and among younger voters and voters without a college degree.

He also racked up endorsements from six Democratic mayors in Minnesota.

I remember on election night that MN was swaying towards DJT as the “Blue wall states” crumbled and the pundits were looking horrified. I think this time it will swing over completely.

Partner, President Ronald Wilson Reagan told the folks in Minnesota to stop counting the votes at midnight and give Mondale his home state which and it was 10:00 at night in California.

I agree that Minnesoata will go for Presdident Trump since the George Floyd riots, looting, throwing firebombs at police and throwing firebombs at buildings to watch them burn to the ground have given President Trump quite a boost to the Repbulcan party.

I would think so. I’m just not sure why republicans always play by the rules. I still am so frustrated that we don’t have our own souls to the polls Sunday’s. Some of those mega churches have 15K and more in there. We are so lazy as a party.

MN Republicans are Democrat light???

I beg to differ. St. Paul might be your experience, but the rest of us outside of the metro are hardly Democrat ‘lite’. Plenty of rock hard conservatives live in the rest of the state.

My Pillow is made there. Trump loves My Pillow.

Partner, I have got one too and I love it and I really like the owner of "My Pillow".

I noticed that the owner of "My Pillow" got invited to one of President Trump's meeting with the CEO's of companies that started this economy booming.

We love President Trump down here in Texas.

The American people have a winner in President Trump and what a workhorse for the American public.

I doubt it very much that we even got one (1) hour of work a week from the idiot Obama.
