Trump's 'law and order' message expands electoral map to unlikely battleground state
The Washington Times ^ | SEPTEMBER 13, 2020 | ALEX SWOYER

President Trump has put Democratic challenger Joseph R. Biden on the defensive in Minnesota, an unlikely battleground that hasn’t voted Republican in a presidential election since 1972.

It’s a rare opportunity for Mr. Trump to expand the electoral map and potentially capture Minnesota’s 10 electoral votes to offset a potential loss in Michigan or Wisconsin, two states that he narrowly won in 2016.

Mr. Trump came close to winning Minnesota four years ago. He lost the state to Hillary Clinton by a little more than 1.5 percentage points. This time, his law-and-order message has been amplified by months of unrest and riots in Minneapolis after the death of George Floyd, a Black man, in police custody.

The president’s momentum prompted Mr. Biden’s team to spend millions of dollars on advertising in the state.

“President Trump has tapped into an organic enthusiasm from Minnesotans who are tired of career politicians’ lip service with no results, and we see an opportunity to win Minnesota with voters who want four more years of the president’s ‘America First’ agenda,” said Samantha Zager, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign.

The polling in Minnesota is mixed. Several polls show Mr. Biden with a solid lead, and the Real Clear Politics average of recent polls in the state puts Mr. Biden ahead by 5.8 percentage points.

A recent Emerson poll, however, shows the president outperforming his 2016 exit polls for men and women, and among younger voters and voters without a college degree.

He also racked up endorsements from six Democratic mayors in Minnesota.

I would LOVE to see Trump take Minnesota. I know it’s a long shot, but MN was fairly Republican locally only relatively recently, with a Republican governor. Maybe the riot-weary dregs in the large metro areas will finally see the light (by voting for Trump or just not voting at all.)

I really really wish vote by mail wasn’t a thing. I really think we’d win another keep the senate without it. At least get closer with the house. Now? Who knows. I saw a van with “vote here” on Fox News collecting ballots in a city. I mean it looked legit, but is it?

Ut Oh, a-n-o-t-h-e-r Dem state falls out of line.

IT ALL STARTED WITH A TRUMP TROLL-—One of Trump’s best:

When Covid surfaced, Trump quietly said he would not interfere in the states,
b/c (drum roll please)....”the governors and Mayors know what they’re doing.”

The governors and big city mayors, like NYC’s DeBlobbio, responded with alacrity......full-speed ahead.

Liberal Dems with newfound power went berserk-— dictating to their citizens, issuing orders left and right.

The governors (and mayors) started channeling their inner Adolf’s and began acting like 1940’a era booted brownshirts.

The citizenry reacted accordingly......they took up arms. Recalls, threats of impeachment, protests, outright defiance as the people rose up against the liberal know-it-alls.

Democrat govs and mayors are now taking big hits for the riots, unrest, destruction and violence they’ve allowed to explode across the country.

LOL. They still dont know what hit ‘em.

BTW, another blue state is trending Trump, so if Trump wins Nevada, a thank you card for his missteps goes to Steve Sisolak, Gov of Nevada.

One marauding governor even closed down colleges-—thus denying Biden the student vote.

Police organizations in MN have withdrawn their support from several democrats. Gun sales have skyrocketed here. I believe Trump has a good chance here in Minnesota.

I'm seeing a fair amount of advertising for Trump, but more for Biden.
Both are unusual here as nationally we usually aren't in play. Lots of TDS in the cities, but a lot of blue collar Trump support out-state.
It seems, to me anyway, that there are congressional seats in play and Jason Lewis is making a good run at the senate.

Nyet. Minneapolistan is SJW territory. The American part of the state is very much Trump territory this year.

The Iron Range is behind Trump. That is huge.

When I leave my white privilege suburb of Minneapolistan and travel through the American part of the state I see a ton of signs. Biden is in third place behind Trump and Sweet Corn.

Hopefully the President has very, very skilled pollsters on his staff that are giving him *very* accurate info.If these skilled, accurate pollsters tell him "look,Pennsylvania and Michigan are lost but you've got a good shot in Minnesota and Nevada" it might be wise for him to accept it.

But I'd be absolutely *thrilled* if he can old everything he won in '16 except PA and MI (which would give him a narrow victory).

A look at the county map from the 2016 election shows Trump carrying all but the Metro area, the Iron Range counties up north and Rochester. Trump is solidifying his support in northern Minnesota and picked up key endorsements from Democrat mayors in the area. The Minneapolis riots have not played well in outstate nor have the Democrat Governor Walz’s draconian lockdowns and mask mandates. Minnesota could well go for Trump.

A voting VAN? Doubtful that it’s legit. Could you tell if they were they checking people’s signatures, or people’s names against voter roll printouts/computers?

No. They were holding a box and people walked up and put their ballots in the box. The person was holding the box so it wasn’t particularly large.

So ... cheating.

a voting van...lol

If the GOP do not seat someone in RBG’s seat and this election is stolen or dragged out for months when they count “found” mail in ballots it’s going to be a bad war.

“a voting van...lol”

I wouldn’t put it past the cheating RATs to have a ballot box in every roach coach selling burritos and hot dogs in every parking lot in the country.

My sis lives in Michigan. She says the common people hate their governor and her pranks. That John James is the talk of the town and Trump has a YUGE following in the state ! James will pull the Detroit vote for both himself and the President. Marijuana was on the ballot in 2018 and made the difference. R needs to open minds to decriminalization.
