That’s about the size of it, really.

The purpose was to not overwhelm the medical/hospital system by slowing the rate of the spread of covid so hosptials culd handle the cases...... I never saw anything that indicated a mask would prevent anyone from getting it. Rather, if you had it you wearing the mask would be helpful from other people catching it ‘from you’.

I opted recently to cloth masks for my own comfort because I have allergies so when I sneeze or cough OTHERS see I’m masked.

Also at stores where required I will accomodate their rules out of respect....it’s their store.

I don't buy that even one bit. There's a huge difference between efforts to prevent the rate of the spread of a serious virus.....and that of the mark of the beast.

If you're going to make a comparison use charge cards and identity cards.

I tend to agree with your post in theory. I’d bet that without the mask, the stuff would go much farther. On the other hand, somebody without a mask would likely be more cautious.

I’d guess that they are roughly comparable to the buffalo-hide shields that the plains Indians deployed at the urging of the medicine men against the U.S. Calvary’s Winchester Rifles at some point in the last half of the 19th century.

Better than nothing in theory, in practice you are better of staying low if there is a danger of being shot.

Maybe we should have everyone tote around buffalo-hide shields as a way of stopping police violence. Or at least all the school kids in Chicago. They are better than nothing.

I’ll keep wearing a mask based on the idea that it reduces the inoculum I inhale. May not keep me from getting COVID-19 but it may be the difference between getting a mild case or ending up on a ventilator.

I agree. They were saying it will only slow down the spread.
I’m in Monmouth county, NJ.. We were supposedly one of the hardest hit. I only know one person who knows of a person who got it.. she recovered. I even have a friend whose mother is in a nursing home.. They put a Covid infected patient in her room. My friends cousin works there. She had a fit and got them to remove the infected woman. My friends mom is fine.

Oh, I know.. I agree with you 100%. I only wear a mask (paper) when I have to. The I’m so sick of the so-called experts. They have contradicted themselves endlessly.

I have worn industrial respirators off & on for decades. They will filter out aerosols that the virus travel in . However surgical masks are not P100(filter99.97% of aerosols/particulates ) rated respirators. The govt. types can’t get on the same sheet of music from one week to the next & can’t figure out why they are viewed with skepticism. Proper respirators will work combined with disinfection practises & social distancing at places of bussines as for people not knowing the proper way to wear a respirator the military has literally taught 10’s of millions of service members how to wear gas masks since WW1 & YouTube has videos you can watch .It is not that complicated folks!!!

3M can’t keep up with the demand of N 95 respirators you think Scott.northern/MSA will be able to make the 100 million P 100 rated half-face respirators overmight? Not gonna happen but they can help you from inhaling aerosols with the virus in them.
