Need to fill the position before the election. It woud really take the wind out of the Left’s sails and make them suicidal. Most will not bother voting.
If the GOP delays, it will give the Left a rallying call to get out the vote.

Exactly what I was thinking! This reminds me a lot of what happened when the Supreme Court allowed Obamacare to be law. At first I thought it would be a rallying cry for us conservatives but looking back I believe it demoralized our base (along with Romney’s weak performance late in the campaign). With a WIN like this, our side will be energized more than ever (sort of like winning the NFC/AFC Championships heading towards the Super Bowl) while “some” on the other side will be so deflated that many will see it almost pointless to continue to resist. There won’t be enough of a “revenge” vote on their side to over come their deflated votes. My opinion but I’m praying for miracles these days!

What matters is which Senators are up for re-election. That would be Collins.
McConnell and Trump have discussed this in depth well before they made any public statements.

Collins will vote Yes.

Depends who the nominee is, but yes I'd say it is likely.

May be the last significant vote she takes also.

This sounds really good. I hope that the Pubbies are actually courageous enough to carry this out. I am hopeful. Thank you for posting.

No way a SCOTUS gets sworn in before election.

Sleepy Biden is Toast he barely can get anyone to even come see him. Do we really want to give the left a reason to wake up.

I thought Collins was under the impression that Maine does NOT like POTUS.

I hope you are right. Seems to me Maine should like him, but the way she votes sometimes belies that.

Good for her if she does the right thing.

The left wing masses will be more likely to vote if the Supreme Court hangs in the balance. If it is wrapped up with the nomination confirmed prior to the election, what reason would they have to even vote? Biden? Harris? Even liberals know those two are jokes.

>>What I don’t get is Alaska. How do you guys keep that fool in the Senate? Maine too.<<

It's an open primary there. So Democrats can vote for a liberal RINO.

"Exactly what I was thinking! This reminds me a lot of what happened when..."

I call it "horse race analysis", that idea that nothing is more important than winning. The "lesser of two evils", a similar idea says, "Support the Rinos! If you don't win the election, you can't do ANYTHING!" Perhaps I am so stupid that I cannot see the appeal of this idea, but by now I am just sick of it.

I don't mean to quibble over a sports analogy, but I say we have won so many elections where nothing or very little was done. It is not a contest, but a fight for our future. We do not need to "win" the election. Winning is a means to an end. Trump was elected to do a job.
That job is not to win reelection, rather it is to appoint the justice whether he wins or loses.

May God defend the right.

Compare your picture with the one in post 16.

Something about your picture, and the picture in post 16 seems odd.

https://www.cnn.com/interactive/2018/10/politics/timeline-kavanaugh/

It took 3 months for Kavanaugh to get sworn in.

Do you honestly think anyone could be sworn in Before the Election.

Even trying will only wake the left up and inflame them.

Best let sleeping dogs sleep until it is to late.

IMHO

Yep..... there definitely is a difference. When you search there are lots of photos with the bandage over the right eye . I selected the one where he was not wearing a tie.

As I look it seems , the damage to his left eye was a separate incident. There is also a photo of the Senator with his right arm in a sling but no facial beating.

Somebody apparently really had it in for the sombitch

I have taken the liberty of adding breaks to your excellent, but lengthy, post to make it easier to read.

Thanks for that, I bogged down in the lack of formatting in the original and skipped it, and with your paragraphing added, it was well worth reading.

Since we have the presidency and the Senate, yes, it is possible. It is debatable whether or not the GOP is courageous enough, I’ll admit, but RBG herself was confirmed in 42 days. It definitely can. be. done.
