I read once that many names were changed in the film because they were afraid of lawsuits. But “Casino” is substantially accurate...even down to the scene where the FBI plane lands on the golf course. The only inaccuracy was that the plane had mechanical trouble rather than having run out of gas.

Collins will vote Yes. She’s up for re-election and won’t want to anger her base anymore than she already has. In fact, this could be a defining issue for her.

There were quite a few weak kneed sisters and pearl clutchers...saying we should wait until after the election to confirm another SC Justice.
Odd, I never saw any such statements, only the opposite......

IIRC Harry Reid was the Chairman/head of the Nevada Gaming Commission before he went to DC.

Agreed, the people that are determined to vote her out, won't change their mind, but it should allow the majority of the fence sitters to break in her direction if she votes 'yes'.

We should be fed up with this automatic assumption that our vote didnt have any purpose or meaning. They think Hillary's (fraudulent) popular vote totals mean whatever they want is the true will of the people, and Trump is a usurper standing in their way. There is no arguing with that kind of mentality.

There were quite a few weak kneed sisters and pearl clutchers posting on FR when news broke of RGBs death saying we should wait until after the election to confirm another SC Justice. I don't think I'm "weak-kneed." I think it would help Trump in the upcoming election. If he were to lose the Democrats could effectively neuter his choice anyway by packing the court ala FDR.

A tea party guy had won the GOP primary sometime back and the Democrats united to vote for her when she ran as an Independent.

I Can go back and research more pearl clutcher comments from last night.
There were quite a few weak kneed sisters. Or you can look for yourself.

If you cant deliver a Supreme Court confirmation with a 53-47 Senate majority, then your political party shouldnt even exist.
This bears repeating. Why bother giving a party a majority if they wont use it to do what they promised you because they dont want to upset the opposition (which would most certainly do far worse if it had the power to do so).

I think Mitch can get this before the election with the right candidate. It will naturally be a woman to avoid all of the ‘me too’ charges.

I agree with you. Screw the Democrats, who are full of hate and would never do us the same favor in a million years. Screw the Democrats and their complicit media who have spent the past four years making Trump's first term a living hell, with the sham impeachments and other resistance tactics.
Let's ram this SC replacement through and then re-elect Trump so that he can appoint three more SC justices (for total of six).

Very nice. RBGs passing means I can enjoy my weekend to the fullest and not bother with the news because I know this will be all anybody talks about for days if not weeks to come.
Im guessing Chuckie and Mitt will appear on almost every weekend news show, expressing their concern about the impropriety of moving forward before the voters have spoken.
