Former President Barack Obama issued a statement late Friday night on the passing of Supreme Court Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The statement was posted to the online site Medium.
In the statement, Obama demanded the Republican controlled Senate not vote on any replacement for Ginsburg until a new president is sworn following the November presidential election. Obama cited his failed 2016 nomination of Judge Merrick Garland to back up his support for Ginsburg’s reported dying “instructions” that her replacement be nominated by a new president (“My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”)

Ginsburg herself said the President doesn’t stop being the President because there’s an election.

I’ve read my US Constitution top to bottom many times, but I’ve never seen the section on granting wishes to dying Supreme Court justices.
I try very hard to wish no one ill will, and to never dance on anyone’s grave. Justice Ginsburg is gone now, and we have a lawful process by which to replace her position on the Supreme Court. That starts with the President of the United States nominating someone, and the Senate holding confirmation hearings and a vote on that nominee. The President is Donald Trump. Liberals need to get over it and accept that fact. There is no special exception for “but she was a liberal and his nominee won’t be!”

The Dems made a calculated risk, Ginsburg made a calculated risk - and they made a bad calculation.
You have to live with your bad calculations. Roberts should’ve forced the issue long ago, instead of letting her clerks run everything.
With all the special rules for her, and Biden in charge of curing Cancer, she couldn’t make it to the next Dem Administration.
And had the seat on the Supreme Court been Ginsburg's property, we would.
But it wasn't.

There is a problem of consistency here. Joe Biden first killed a Supreme nomination in an election year. The repubs did it back to Garland based on the Biden precedent. Now it seems they are scrapping that precedent.
