A Dallas school district is investigating a high school English teacher who asked students to write about a modern-day hero and listed the 17-year-old accused of killing two people during Wisconsin protests as one possible option.
Kyle Rittenhouse has been accused of fatally shooting two people and wounding another in Kenosha following the police shooting of Jacob Blake.
The writing assignment also listed Joseph Rosenbaum, one of the protesters Rittenhouse is accused of killing; along with Mahatma Gandhi, César Chávez, Malcolm X and George Floyd. The teacher misspelled Gandhi and Malcolm X.

A good start.
Hes certainly more of a hero than George Floyd or Jacob Blake, although thats a very low bar.
Sounds like a fair spread to me as the teacher allowed all sides of the conflict. I bet the author think George Floyd is a hero too
Well, why not? Isn’t turnabout fair play? We’ve seen so many historical figures unjustly vilified, it’s about time we give a contemporary figure the credit due.
He killed fewer people than the “heroes” my nephew was asked to choose from for an assignment at a Jesuit “catholic” middle school. The list included Margaret Sanger and “Deng Chow Peng”.
We cant be having any balance in the schools, can we?How are Chavez, Ghanaians MalcolmX to be considered Modern Day Anything?
A male Joan of Arc.
I’d be worried about an English teacher that can’t spell. How hard is it to spell X?
he is a hero... he whacked two commies and permanently disabled another. That’s a true american hero.
Chi
There are 01 or 10 ways of doing lots of things that are correct—with or without binary thinking.
I would write the hell out of an essay supporting him.
Malcolm, the reason for the Xmas season...
And the problem is?
I think he is a hero.
Malcolm Y?
Malcolm the Tenth.
The title of the article reveals the bias. Since Kyle was only one option.
Obviously, the teacher was trying to get the students to write an essay that was convincing and in need of strong supporting argument.
One would think that his own kind, the teacher, would have colleagues of an intellectual enough level to understand that. But then again, we know the lack of quality in education from k-12 and higher.
hahahahahahahahaha. That was a funny pic. “Communist swine”
