Van Morrison has described the British government as fascist bullies disturbing our peace in one of three new tracks he has written to protest against safety measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
On No More Lockdown, Morrison sings:
No more lockdown / No more government overreach / No more fascist bullies / Disturbing our peace No more taking of our freedom / And our God-given rights / Pretending its for our safety / When its really to enslave
The song also condemns celebrities telling us what were supposed to feel, although the 75-year-old Northern Irish songwriter denied doing this himself.
Im not telling people what to do or think, he said in a statement. The government is doing a great job of that already. Its about freedom of choice. I believe people should have the right to think for themselves.

Van is the man!
This is refreshing for a change..
Okay, I’ll be the first:
I thought he was dead.......................
Interesting
“Fascist Bullies”.
That’s a brilliant term to describe the Dim governors who have shut down their states.
Although here in NV, the bars are opening at 12:00AM Monday morning. That includes restaurants with bars that serve food.
“It’s a maskless night for a moondance”. Just sayin’.

Double tap sorry.
Like his music... but didn’t know he was still performing.

Meanwhile:
In similar remarks Wednesday night at an event hosted by Hillsdale College:
William Barr called the lockdown orders the greatest intrusion on civil liberties in American History since slavery. 9/16/2020
We did a jam at the Red Dog in Virigina City Wednesday night. Not much mask enforcement. And some friends are playing at the Ponderosa on Saturday night 9-1. I may sit in. So sissypants can basically phu cough.
Van doesnt do politics.....must really be fed up and knows his fans are too.
Yeah. Was my first thought too. But apparently he’s still alive and touring.
IIRC Van has been a pretty devout Christian for some time.
FREEDOM!
He’s 75, that means he was 22 when I was 12 listening to Brown Eyed Girl!...................
Into the Mystic...ahhh yes.
LOL, you could tell here Van did not want to be there.

And if it were a Labour gov't doing it, The Guardian would be calling for Van Morrison to be put on trial.
