Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine called on lawmakers in the Buckeye State this week to pass a series of reforms aimed at blunting the spike in gun-related violence.
The reforms are part of a larger plan called STRONG Ohio that DeWine introduced in October of 2019 in the wake of the Dayton massacre.
Im going to keep saying it. We have to, in Ohio, get tougher on repeat violent offenders, DeWine stated on Tuesday, according to local media.
We have to get tougher on those who are convicted felons who have absolutely no business having a gun. We need to do this. We have pending in the state legislature a bill that would do that and I would urge my friends in the general assembly to take that bill up, he added.
(Among the new regulations)[snip]
Create a new private-sale background check process that will increase the number of background checks conducted in Ohio while also protecting the privacy of law-abiding gun owners;
Create a legal safe harbor for firearms sellers who require private-sale background checks;

And he thinks those who break the law will follow another law?
They allow the number of murders to go up until they see an opportunity to call for “gun control.” What they mean is seizing guns from non-violent citizens while leaving them in the hands of violent criminals.
Same in chicago and new york. They do nothing, encourage the violence, then try to take guns from the people who are not doing the killing (us).
Maybe they could quit releasing people from prison
He is Kasick lite, but the article title is misleading. Dishonest. Where in the first few paragraphs is the gun control stuff?
Obviously social workers need to go door to door confiscating illegal weapons in the worst zip codes.
Deal with the scumbags and STOP BLAMING THE FIREARMS !!!
Stupid politicians.
It’s all about lawyers and the criminal justice system making money. Follow the money.
It’s in the bullet points of the STRONG Ohio legislation: I listed the two gun control measures.
This dumbass knew nothing about the Feds conducting Operation Red Zone over Labor Day Weekend.
He was also Booed at the Zanesville rally with Pence. Another Kasich if you ask me.
3 people dead of gunshot wounds found 3 days ago about a mile from campus of university of Cincinnati...their killers were likely felons...I don’t want them owning guns...how is that gun control? I want to be able to own a .50 cal if I want to. Not convicted felons, unless their record is expunged.
Hey DeWine - if they're convicted felons, what are they doing out on the street in the first place and not behind bars where they belong?
Why is your regime letting criminals out on the street?
The last one is tyrannical. Must be stopped.
deWhine..
Sorry! Wrong answer, Gov! All the ‘background checks’ in the world aren’t going to stop FELONS from getting guns illegally.
How about this? You stop introducing more useless laws, and start ENFORCING, TO THE LETTER, those laws already on the books and keep the dangerous predators AWAY from the rest of Ohioans for long, long periods of time? If need be, ship them to Wisconsin! We have plenty of prison space - heck, it’s Big Business for us! We love locking up the Bad Guys!
I know. It seems complicated, but it’s not!
The US has NEVER had background checks on private transactions. Why do we need them now? Haven’t there always been bad guys who would get a gun by any means necessary?
Not only that, the POS has been postponing death sentences.
We got your number in Ohio. Case in point. Their new effort on ending scam and other unwanted calls on cell phones requires you to list your telephone number and other personal information and is available to the public. WTF enablers.
