Trump Announces Executive Order Establishing ‘1776 Commission’ To Combat ‘1619 Project’

President Donald Trump announced on Thursday he would sign a new executive order establishing the “1776 Commission” to promote patriotic education. The commission will counter the revisionist history peddled by leftist efforts like the New York Times’ 1619 Project, which imposes false narratives on America’s students.

“The narratives about America being pushed by the far left and being chanted in the streets bear a striking resemblance to the anti-American propaganda of our adversaries,” Trump said in remarks during the White House Conference on American History at the National Archives. He further described the 1619 Project—a collection of essays that cast America as an irredeemably racist empire built solely to oppress minorities—as “ideological poison.”

Th educational rot can only be battled on the front lines, PARENTS NEED TO STEP UP AND FIGHT for thier children. You are paying thier salaries to feed your kids to hate themselves hate others and to hate you. Pay them a visit in force and get in thier faces

It’s a good idea. It’ll be interesting to see who is part of the project.

Secretary of Education DeVos needs a steel-spined deputy to fire people and ram through changes. Her heart is in the right place, but she does not have the junkyard dog disposition to fight the nasty Leftists day in and day out.

Maybe an exceptionally clever and driven White House advisor to help reform education, like Stephen Miller on immigration.

GREAT. I am a historian. I have a penchant, a fettish, to get original documents...and compare various reports at the time. And look at the WHOLE picture. Fake News is about to get thrown into the fire. Wake up New York Times.

This EO suggests that Trump feels pretty secure about the upcoming election. He knows slow commie joe’s handlers will kill it almost immediately.

1619 is a new initiative, but it's just a more organized version of the garbage that has crept in over many years. Leftist 'lenses' on everything from current events to history to literature are not new. Our sons are in their mid to late 20's and they were subjected to lefty crap in their school years. One of them had a history paper to write that had them view a historical even through the lenses of feminism, marxism, and something else - probably racism.

I'm also a retired science teacher. I taught in parochial schools, so I was under a little less pressure on this front. Nonetheless, I sometimes felt like I was the only teacher in the world who wasn't filling the kids brains with climate change propaganda. It was interesting to see how students settled in once they realized that their questions and opinions were treated with respect.

The “1619 Project” itself was just announced last year by the NY Times, but the concepts (America was built by the sweat of black slaves) have been kicking around on the Left for a long time.

“Nonetheless, I sometimes felt like I was the only teacher in the world who wasn’t filling the kids brains with climate change propaganda.”

Years ago in 6th grade my daughter was arguing against the climate warming discussion. I guess it got a bit heated. The teacher brought us in and told us that he was worried that the other kids would tease her, and that she shouldn’t be so vocal about her views. He didn’t say that her views were wrong, he was just concerned about her. (He was a good guy and we helped out quite a bit in his class and field trips.)

I laughed. “Oh she can take of herself!”

A few weeks later for her science project she did a study and a couple of poster boards showing the climate warming farce for what it is!

The teacher gave her an A.

If each of us does a little, it adds up. The kids deserve better than they’ve been getting from the educational system.
