Universities specialize in high debt and worthless degrees. I guess at least they had fun for 4 years although they will be paying for a long time.
It’s like a perfect storm of things.
- Deep student debt
- Too many worthless social justice degrees
- Skyrocketing rents
- Wages depressed by outsourcing/H1B
- Laziness/pickiness on the part of young people
(won’t take less than ideal job, won’t take studio
apartment over a garage with no AC, etc.)
- Mom and Dad just too accommodating to let them live
comfortably.
Well, Covid and working virtually.
That’s because they want to afford all the luxuries of life....young people today don’t think they should have to do or pay the hard work to make it on your own.
Nah..they’re just unwilling to live in a less than modern apartment....or according to their means.
We're at a crossroads in this country where productive industries and states are past the point where they need to cut off the failed Democrat states and Communist government infiltrations such as Section Eight Housing, mandated Low Income Housing, Green Energy, Affirmative Discrimination, Public Education, and income taxes. The ratio of workers to takers has been getting progressively worse.
Uncertain Times - Circle The Wagons
The demographic in the article are 18-29 year olds. I know it is possible, but really, how many kids in their late teens/early to mid 20’s have parents that need assistance going to the doctor? There parents are probably in late 40’s/50’s...maybe 60s. 60 year olds need help going shopping or to the doctor? How many 18-29 year olds have the financial wherewithal to assist their parents? Some, maybe, but not the numbers in this article. Now, I understand there’s all kinds of variables and situations, but this is/has been becoming more prevalent and I don’t blame the kids...I blame the parents for enabling them.
$1400/month when I looked back in 2014. Admittedly that was NYC, but I was horrified.
Children living with parents doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re lazy. Sometimes it does, but every case is different.
We have a winner!
Congrats on your daughter. Well done Mom!
The best thing that I did for my parents was getting the heck out.
kids today are almost completely useless. They don’t even WANT to get a drivers license! much less a job or a boyfriend/girlfriend.
All of my kids are gone and on their own. Some have roommates and rent houses. All modest places at reasonable prices.
One son rents a whole house with three other guys.
Thank you but she gets the credit. She is an awesome going lady
as long as the younguns are working towards independence, towards marriage, etc....
most of the world has multi generational housing....
“When I first lived by myself without roommates my apt. was $250 a month. 1 bedroom apartments cost how much these days? Depending on where you live, at least $1000 right?”
In Southern California or a North East city, $2,000 - 3,000+/month.
So to live by your self you need a serious job. If you get laid off for any length of time then you probably have to move back home or get financial assistance from family.
This is not good, it delay’s family formation and adulthood for many responsible young people who are trying to do the right things in life.
This is great. Houses should be cleaner, dishes and yard work done every day, time to make meals and engage in conversation thats is if they put the phone down and turn off the tube.
As I’ve been telling young people for the last 15 years.
“India can steal every job in America and still have more to go”
“India and China are your competition unless all you want to do is flip signs on street”
